Rechambering 35 rem marlin 336 to 358 win
A local gunsmith claims to have very good luck rechambering marlins to 358 winchester. All he does is cut the chamber . Has anyone heard of this being done? any feeding or safety issues?

I have one like that.....Frankly, if I were to start shooting it, I'd load it down to .35 Remington +P.....The person I got it off of says it's been shot many times.....
I sort of wish I didn't have it, but, it was cheap and seemed like a good idea at the time
(This is not a professional, or, even astute opinion....just a personal one)

Have you shot it at all? I was curious about whether they feed reliably, accuracy etc.. I find the idea really interesting, although I have to admit it works pretty good as a 35 rem.

Thank you very much Hobie, that is exactly what I was looking for. Pretty much what I suspected, no free lunches! lol.

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.
History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

Can't see any reason to re-chamber from a .35Rem.
The.35R is one of the most accurate and hard hitting rifles I've ever owned.

Me, either (other than the 'because I can' factor). 35 Rem is a 'classic' that still fills the effective but non-magnum niche.2ndovc wrote:Can't see any reason to re-chamber from a .35Rem.

Notice how the Marlin action fails? Looks the same in every photo I've seen. I've HEARD of the locking surfaces peening to the point of failure but never seen a photo and I've looked and asked, even begged for one. This is a very interesting subject that seems to come up about every 8 months or so.

Get a rifle already chambered in .356 WCF. SAVE yourself a lot of headaches, money, and body parts.
