i have a chance to get a new lever action
my two choices are marlin 357 cb [1894cb]
or a henry bigboy 357[hnh006m]

the price is about a 10.00$ bill difference
the caliber is set 38/357 so that is not an option
and i can only afford one ........

which one ?
some gun info i all ready got marlins in the stable [30/30,444,450]
and one henry gloden 17hmr so i do have some experience with them.

i do want to shoot the heck out of it to what ever make it is

Were it me, I'd go for the marlin.

The marlin is a better looking gun to my eye and has a great reputation.

OK, here's my choice for you: Marlin.

Marlin 1894: slim, trim, handy, light enough to be easy to carry, heavy enough to hang well when shooting.

I would favor the Marlin over the Henry but this might be one of those choices where there is no wrong choice.

As a general rule I don't prefer Marlins... but, I DO prefer the side loading, so it's a no brainer: MARLILN.

The Henry Bigboy is just that A BIG BOY and very heavy for it's size at almost 9 lbs. (8.67 in 44 mag the 357 even more due to smaller bore in same outside diameter barrel) due to heavy barrel and thick brass receiver. To some (myself included) it just doesn't look quite right. Now the Marlin CB is deffinately a looker and a classic, and also a much handier weight (6 lbs.) to lug around in the woods. Reliability, customer service, and warranty wise the Henry IMHO has a slight edge.

I went the Marlin 1894 cb after months of tossing up between it and the Rossi and I havent regretted my choice. I think its got about 3000 rounds through it now and with the right loads I can get about 1.5" at 100 yds.
All I'm waiting on now is a rerun of the 1894 218 bee and I will be happy as a pig in mud.

wow , ok so i will put a marlin on order they said 658.20$ for the cb is that about right or can it be had cheaper ?[local dealer]
27 replies and only one person spoke of the henry customer service
highly.

Nothing "wrong" with Henry... it's just not as handy, and therfore not as useful, of a gun... espcially in a "handy" caliber like .357.

well i did it , but i couldn't find a new one around here but when calling for prices one shop owner told me he had a used one 1999 cbII 24" bbl
for around 495.00 well.......
new one 655. old one 500. you do the math
i got it home sweet
can now see what you marlin loco's mean
