Just got another 32 S&W short top break.
I might be the only ones who thinks these are neat. They're old and they don't cost much. Just like me.
I paid $130 and that's plenty for them, but they're not all in good shape. I can't see that this one was ever shot. I have a Smith and Wesson, Hopkins and Allen and now this Iver Johnson.

Re: Just got another 32 S&W short top break.
At one time my Ex had a nice little collection of those. She knew all the models and variations.
I had a couple of the single actions but let those go with her. Since I was keeping 90% of my stuff I figured it was a pretty good deal.
They can be surprisingly accurate, but be careful of hard targets. I had a .32 Short bounce off a chunk of oak and hit me in the knuckle!
It didn't break the skin but, dang that hurt!

I like those small top break revolvers, I'd love to know some of the stories they could tell about the days before hi-cap 9mm were all the rage..
Whatever you do always give 100%........... unless you are donating blood.

As popular as they were, there must have been quite a need, conceal and carry.

I have always wished some gunmaker would make a 'new model' version with high-strength modern steels, and chamber it in a more contemporary cartridge, or .32-20, or whatever.hightime wrote:I might be the only ones who thinks these are neat.
What I did was compromise and settle for an H&R Top-Break in 22 LR...

I been wanting one of those for a long time, but the ones I been finding have been a little too rough. Neat little guns.

I have always wanted one. I have a weakness for top breaks, and that little .32 round just looks so danged cute sitting in the palm of your hand. How do yours shoot, Hightime?
Re: Just got another 32 S&W short top break.
I haven't shot them enough to tell. I've been reading about serial numbers and what is safe to shoot smokeless in. I still doubt I'll shoot them much anyway , unless I get dies.

Hightime, is big brother in .38 S&W?
Re: Just got another 32 S&W short top break.
32acp ammo will often drop in and fire.
This can be a mistake.
The chamber in the cylinder can take the extra pressure, 12,000 cup vs 15,000 cup, but cannot take jacketed bullets.
The 32acp jacketed bullet has much more friction in the bore, and pulls forward on the latch much harder.
The latch pin is tiny screw [56 TPI or something like that] that is captured by a flat piece of sheet metal with a round hole.
The force from the jacketed bullet friction can stretch the round hole into an oblong, which makes the break top action loose.

It's a Beretta Laramie 45 Colt. It shoots great. It's supposed to be a replica of a 1878 Smith and Wesson New Model Three, Target. Although S&W never made them in 45 Colt, but it works for me.
