Price check-- M1A

Post by pwl44m »

What are M1As going for in Your neck of the woods ? My local Pawn shop just put one out yesterday. Price is $1795 as new with 6X25X50 scope. Looking on GB they are pricey. If I had anything on a bucket list this would be It. I might be able to talk them down a bit but prolly not much. What say Ye from what You are seeing ?

Lots of it seems to be the barrel quality and length, etc... A couple hundred less might find you one without a scope and a 'regular' barrel, and if you wanted a fancy 'match' barrel it might cost a bit more. The 'Scout' and 'SOCOM' ones seem to be higher priced around here too, when you see them.

If this 'background check' passes, I think prices will drop down for 'new' ones and a few folks will be paying lots more for used ones they can get hold of before the registration starts.

AR-15 prices here practically doubled in January and February, if you could fine one, but now, every shop I go to has a half dozen of them or more - even the Rural King (farm store like Tractor Supply) in town sells them...! I wonder if M1A prices will somewhat mirror that pattern. If so, you might see 'plain' ones back down around $1,200 before long, but - I wouldn't count on it, since the M1A is < ahem > a gun suited to the more discerning buyer. . .

At the most recent gun show there were two. One for $2500 and the other $2600!!!!!!!!!!!! And they both sold within hours of the show opening.

I would have thought that was about the going rate these days, but a couple days ago when I was in my local shop they had three H&R Garands on the rack for $1960 each!

Just bought a very nice used one (the "loaded" model) for $1600. It was virtually new (no bluing wear at all, one ding in the stock). The dealer was located in southeastern PA.

Ceptin for one dissenting vote This one seems to be in the realm of acceptable priceing. Not gouging and certainly not a giveaway. May have to give it a closer look.

And give it another look I did. Seems to be a standard M1A by SA. I did talk to a Guy in a Gun shop across the street. He said those tall scope mounts used on those are junk and recomended another which I dont remember. The scope is a Bushnell 6X24X50 AEOG whatever that is.
I watched an M1A on GB for a couple days and it just went for $1500 about an hour ago without a scope but NIB. add to that shipping and dealer fees when it gets here and it is close to the price of the one here. I will be on the lookout for one but really dont want to pay that much.

I haven't seen any in MN for less than $1600 since last summer.

Yea, like others have said, 16 I would not pay anymore than that as eventually, they will be back on the shelves. That's for a "loaded" with the NM barrel. The Super Match will be another deuce or 3 more, field model a deuce less.

I bought a Standard, walnut model the day before that turd shot up those little kids for $1500.

Saw a couple the other day for $1650. Not too bad considering.

Honestly....you don't need a scope like that on a combat semi-auto.....I'm thinking a 2.5x Leupold Scout Set-Up for my Ruger GunSite Scout....several mags, and I'm in business 8)

I know , that is the big holdup. The only thing I would need that scope for is resale. From what I can garner from Google it is a 500 to $800 scope. I asked Him to take the scope off the first day and that was a NO.
