Very nice!! That is the way that my Blackhawks should have come from the factory. Good work, I am envious of you guys that actually have talent, unlike myself.

You can have the Vacaro, they are all over the place. I want the grips. Nice work Chuck!---------6 (Did you sacrifice some nice old Ruger pre-72 grips to get the black eagles/)
Thanks for the compliments guys.
Yes, they are curley Maple.
I have not worked in any man made materials but would like to try some . Linen Micarta comes out almost like Ivory.
Those medalions are available from Ruger and from Vintage Gun Grips online.
Kind of a fun hobby but WAY too time consuming to do for profit. To make minimum wage , I would have to get $150 a pair.
I ordered 4 medallions from Ruger in December and they sent them to me for FREE.
I love Ruger`s service. If you e-mail Ruger`s CEO, you will get a reply and he probably will send you a free hat to boot. Good company to deal with.

olyinaz , What I really like to do is to teach others (hands on) how to do things. Many folks just need a little encouragement to get started. This stuff aint rocket science, and if they come out ugly all that is wasted is a little time and a small piece of wood. High grade wood that will make super pistol grips often can be found for cheap because those pieces are not large enough for other projects.
The maple these are made of was rejected for furniture material due to defects. I have seen pallets and shipping crates with very nice wood in them and they can be had for free.
