that is amazing! truly! you have a brilliant and dedicated son. folks like him are laying the foundations of technologies that will create a world in the next hundred years, one that we could scarcely recognize or believe.

Steve, did you take any quantum physics? i suspect you did. i took the senior level serious type quantum physics course when in college [ a real over-reach for a pre-med student ] and passed it.....it was astounding and wonderful [ only my math skills allowed me to survive.]

i often felt [ paraphrasing Eugen Wigner ] that i was just a dog being talked to by a man....but sometimes the fog and clouds would roll away [ like understanding the quantum derivation of the formula for angular momentum ].....then the clouds would roll back in and i would think huh? what was that?

you have a lot to be proud of there! congratulations!!

My son in law is a graduate of School of Mines with a degree in theoretical physics and just got accepted to the UC Davis Phd program with a full ride. I just read this to him while we were eating breakfast in Oahu. He said that journal is pretty prestigious.

Steve, yeah, a rightfully proud dad.
My daughter is in the first year of her genetics Ph.D. program at Iowa State. I'm doing a lot of the worrying for her.

Very awesome, best of luck to him on his way to PhD!

I see that could have some tremendous changes to the way super conductors are currently deployed. Levitation could be achieved without the need for the massive cooling needed now.

Very, very interesting, I am glad we have such promising American's leading this field.

What a great accomplishment. I don't know your particular situation, but as for me, I proudly brag that both of my girls are much smarter (and far more educated) than me. That ain't a bad thing!
