That is exactly what it is, OS. Couldn't believe I found it NIB, not even a safe queen with the normals bumps and scratches. I have a weakness for 64's and just couldn't let this one get by me. Especially for $500

I wouldn't be surprised if sometime in the next 100 years, someone takes a beaten up Marlin 30-30 to Mars on the first trip to colonize the place...just in case some of those little green men are running around with ill intent.
Some people just need a sympathetic pat on the head.....with a hammer. Repeatedly.
My first centerfire rifle was a Marlin 336, and now PillHer has it with the stock cut down to fit her. She still uses it at the range on occasion. If she gets the chance to go hunting again, it will be in her hands. After she took it and had it fitted to her, I bought a .270 bolt action, and I have used it for several deer. A couple of years ago, I bought another Marlin and am pleased with it. It isn't as accurate as PillHer's for some reason, but it still keeps the entire magazine full into the kill zone at 100 yards each and every time. For a .30-30, that is all I need. I don't use it a lot, but it is funny that I see .30-30 ammunition on the shelves at Wal Mart if they have anything at all.

I have four Winchester 94 'Big Bores' but that is a different action from the regular M94. IIRC the 7-30 Waters version was on a conventional M94 action.
30-30 carbines remain ever popular within the deer camps of Pennsylvania. The 170 grain softnose factory load has a very long and enviable reputation of anchoring deer quickly at typical forest distances.

I must be hunting with my head in a stump TR,
Honestly, I don't see them in the woods like I did back in the 70's & 80's.
When I hunted the Poconos from 2000-2006 I saw one fellow with a Marlin 336 30-30 , I carried a 336D 35 REM a couple times , I used a Marlin 1895M (450 Marlin) during bear season and a friend had a Savage 99 in 300 Savage and thats all the lever actions I saw in the deer woods of PA .
Now on the other hand I have no idea how many PA shuckamatic's (REM 760's 7600's) I saw !
Parkers , Mannlicher Schoenauer’s , 6.5mm's and my family in the Philippines !
