Image hosting site besides photobucket?
Photobucket has been "improving" their site, now it's simply become a pain in the rear to use, especially when not logged in, and a nuisance for visitors. Is there a site that's as easy to use for sharing pics in forums and for visitors to look at as photobucket used to be?

That makes three of us. I'm still using the old system, but in less than a month they are going to change to the "new and improved"
system. I've got hundreds of pics on there, but really need another place to use.

Re: Image hosting site besides photobucket?
I've given feedback several times and had emails from their people, but they keep saying "its going to get better" and they'll be "adding" features (which we used to have) but not all of them. I saw on their internal forum that a LOT of people are VERY PO'ed about it. They can't offer much hope from what I can tell, just that we'll get a few of the old features back, but we'll be saddled with many new annoying ones also.
Many people that paid for the pro version and use their site for business are pretty upset at the changes, and how slow and complicated it operates now.
I have no idea what they were thinking, but it was pretty decent in the former version for simplicity and basic user friendliness. Now, its slow, cumbersome, and not very user friendly.

Facebook is pretty handy.....I-Photo, and my Android can post directly to it, and I can access it very easy...no bells or whistles, either. If I need those, I'll do it on the I Mac....

I havent figured facebook out. People talk about what they do on there, but I cant find the controls to do much of it. May be my old computer, but what I see when on facebook apparently isn't what others see when on there.
Photobucket used to be pretty simple to use, and go grab a link (without signing in) to post on a forum, or for visitors to see your pics if you sent them the address. I haven't seen much of facebook that's easy to use without being logged in or a member.

Well, Old No 7 - I just ran through and picked 128 chick pics and tried to put them on picturetrail but their new superfast uploader doesn't seem to work. I'll look to your suggestion.
Unless you can easily transfer pictures in bulk, not viable.

I have been using Fotki.com for quite a few years.
The interface is simple and reliable.
You can check out some of my photos here : http://public.fotki.com/jhrosier/
there are other hidden/private directories that I use to store photos for forum posting.
They can also supply high quality prints at reasonable prices.
I think that the service cost me $30 last year.

.
I've been using ImageShack, for the last 6 mos, and it's LOTS easier than Photobucket.
You can preset the ImageShack uploader to forum posting pic size (or avatar, etc) before you browse your 'puter for the pic(s) you want to upload to there.
Once the pics are there, there's several buttons along the RH side of each pic, so you can view/edit them, or copy the url for pasting in a thread, etc.
No B.S. ads, popups, etc, so far (I have the "free" service)

I've been using Smugmug and haven't had any problems. I think it's $30 per year.

Re: Image hosting site besides photobucket?
Facebook has "fixed" their site till it's broken too. My wife can't navigate through it at all on Firefox now, she's got to go to IE just to get on and read the posts.
I'll explore some of the others mentioned here.
What's gonna hurt is trying to upload pics that I have on PB to something else. I have over a 1000 pics on there.

Re: Image hosting site besides photobucket?
Do ANY of these sites allow a person to 'move' or 'reorganize' their photos while preserving the original links they may have 'out there'...? It would just require an ability to 'forward' links at the host-site level. It would be really NICE. The only reason I've stuck with Photobucket is they promised to add that feature, but all I've seen them add is fancy multi-media stuff I have no use for.

Test here - I used to know how to use the new beta PB - I call this one "It's 12:25 some where", well, and 1983

Re: Image hosting site besides photobucket?
I've started using the "Attachment feature" of the forum. Matter of fact most forums like this one has the attachment feature. Once you click on the reply button the Upload Attachment will appear right under the Preview and Submit buttons. just click on the "Choose File" button and go to the photo, in your computer, you want to post. Once you click on your photo you will need to click on the "Add the file" button. Once your photo is uploaded you will be asked to "Place in line". Move your cursor to the place you want you photo to appear. Click on the Place in line button and your photo will be posted to your reply. Works the same for a New Topic. It's much easier than using Photobucket.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Re: Image hosting site besides photobucket?
I have had no problem with Photo Bucket other than the switch to the new format had me going for a day or so. Now that I figured it out it is OK with me.
