Philippines 2013

Post by 6pt-sika »

Well I'm across the pond and have been for a couple days now !

The flight from Washington to Dubai was long but uneventfull !

The Dubai airport is an experience in it's own right !

First terminal I ever saw a Bentley for sale !

The flight from Dubai to Manila was okay for the most part although it seems someone had an attack of some sort and they were looking for medical folks to help out . Unfortunatly I don't fit the job description .

Spent the first night in Manila and went to the US Embassey the following morning . Gotta say thats the first US Embassey I've ever set foot in . Been in several Embassesy of other countries in Washington but never ours in another country .

It amazed me the number of "citizens" there for one thing or another !

Walked in the embassey at approx 7:20 AM and my appointment was at 8:30 . For some unforseen reason they took me on and I was outta there by 7:45 ! We were back at the hotel by 8:30 . Took a quick nap then showered and headed for the airport to come to Cagayan de Oro City !

Then the BS starts . Plane was delayed by 1 hour , we had to go to two different gates before we were all "herded" out to buses that took us out on the tarmac where we had to go up steps to load on the plane . this "new" version of Philippine Airlines s**kS to put it lightly !

We landed in CDO about 2 hours late from the original ETA !

The hotel had a car waiting for us and the trip to was uneventfull yet a bit long as we were in the middle of afternoon rush hour !

One has not truely experienced traffic congestion until they did rush hour in a Philippine or Thai city . These people make 6 lanes of traffic out of a two lane road !

Well thats all for now and no I've not downloaded any pictures yet !

Enjoy your visit. Why did you have to go to the Embassy?

When I was last in the ROK they did the same magic with traffic lanes which seemed to instantly convert from 2 to 6 lanes when a light turned red. Sort of like a mass start at a cross country run.

I wish you the very best. You've got a few more experiences coming your way...

You are so right !

I will go to my MIL's house for Born Again Christian Bible Study friday eveing . They're all catholic but another sister is born again and brought her Pastor over when their dad was still alive and sick . And they've kinda gotten a bond with this Pastor his wife and kids .

We're off to Gingoog early saturday morning to stay two nights . We'll visit with her brother his wife and his hunting buddy and family .

this is the same brother I went pigeon hunting with in 2009 and his friend that was along with us . I brought them both T shirts from our shop and a bear claw each from the bear I killed in 2011 . Got her brother a insulated camo hunting coat as well . Although I've NEVER been anywhere over here I thought an insulated coat was needed .

I dunno about the picture thing at the moment !

I'm using a new Nikon CoolPix 3200 I believe and it isn't being to friendly with the old Toshiba laptop I brought to leave here .

The PC doesn't seem to wanna reduce the pics from the new camera to well .

I am sure I should be able to reduce them when I return home and take them off my flash drive .

We're in Gingoog at the moment .

Been here about a day and I just got PC connection .

Yesterday we went to my BIL's hunting buddies daughters THANKSGIVING of passing the nursing board exams !

My BIL's hunting buddy is a retired banker and he put on a heck of a spread !

TWO whole LECHON , lumpia , San Miguel , Tanduay and many many other things I am not sure what they were but they tasted great !

And thank god they did not ask me to eat any Durian .

That was lunch yesterday !

We had dinner last night in the Gigoog Hotel with BIL and his family . Dinner was good but not nearly as nice as lunch !

Just finished lunch at BIL's and got back to the hotel to find they just got their net connection back .

Later tonight we'll go to a seaside resteraunt for dinner , then back to CDO early monday morning !

We gotta do family planning seminar monday or tuesday !
Kind of a joke I think since we are both 51 and she's unable to have children anylonger .

Okay it's been a bit of a PITA to get pics posted this trip what with new cameras new phones and Fing poor internet service in the hotel !

I'm only any good at using pics from my old phone thru Photobucket . Haven't geared up to well for the new camera or the new Samsung like I Phone phones !

But here goes !

We gave our daughter a new Samsung phone for V DAY this is the one that competes with the I Phone here . Actually we gave to her maybe two days before V DAY but she was happy just the same !

Image

Image

I don't think that phone left her hands the first three days she had it !

I snuck out the day before V Day and bought the soon to be the same phone so she can change with the times also and she was very surprised . She'll need some time with it and her nephew to learn all the tricks !

Image

We took the younger SIL out for lunch on V Day at the Siam Thai Resteraunt and she was pleased I think !

Image

Day after V Day we took younger SIL , MIL and NIL's nanny BecBec out for dinner at "Thai Me Up" resteraunt !

Image

Image

Image

Image

For appetizers we had Thai Spring Rolls and Vietnameese Spring Rolls , they went quickly . Also drank Singha and San Mig Lite as well as some sort of non Alcohol fruit stuff that was quiet tastey .

Subday I made my anual treck to the Catholic Church for early morning mass !

The service was in Bisayan so I understood very little .

After that we went to grocery store because I was going to make breakfast!

Scrambled eggs with milk , chedder cheese and mushrooms ! Bacon and toast with VIRGINIA APPLE BUTTER .

MIL made prok adobo the night before , but since we went Thai jopint she saved for sunday and of course the filipino staple of steamed rice !

Image

SIL with Mama's pork adobo (very tastey I might add).

Image

Babygirl after eating daddy's breakfast she was ready for a nap but still had her Samsung in her hand !

Image

My BIL's daughter Casey , she is 17 and first year college ! very gwapa young lady !

Image

Babygirl and soon to be at SM Mall in CDO yesterday !

Greetings from Peru
This has been fun reading. Makes me wonder if Spanish descent governments all have the same strange ways of doing things. But if there is one thing they have learned is that unless there are 40 different rubber stampers on each sheet of 8x10 then something is lacking.
Adobo.... Favorite Sunday meal here in Arequipa. Every street seems to have someone with a big pot cooking away. Reminds me of the weekend Bar B Ques in Chatanooga. Eevry one with just a slight flavor variance.
Stay safe..Thanks for the photos.. great looking family.

An American guy and his white GF got wacked here two days ago about 60 miles from where I am !

Wasn't anything to do with the Muslim Rebels however !

Seems this dimwit was married to a filipina chick and he was running around with some young white girl he brought here . The consensus from what I'm able to gather is that the wife or her family had them offed !

I sweat even indoors with the air con "on" as they call it !

My second exwife was from Peru .

I actually liked some of the stuff she cooked while we were married .

But like filipino's my ex was big on eating rice a good bit .

This is about the only place I drink coffee anymore . Never was what one would call a big coffee drinker .

I'm more of a milk drinker even though I'm 51 !

Over here what I call fresh milk is hard to come by . So I drink a good bit more of mango , mango/orange and four seasons juice .

Oh an update on the Amerikaner that got offed a couple days ago !

Turns out he was killed about 10 miles from where I'm at !

Also turns out that the woman he was with was not white but rather the filipina daughter of his wife ! His stepdaughter !

So the mother got angry and had her husband and daughter knocked off .

I do not know the ages , but I would assume the daughter was atleast 20-22 as they claim he had been uhm shall we say keeping company with the daughter for 5 years , so that should make him about 40-45 and his estranged wife in the 38-45 range . Or atleast my thoughts on the matter .

After we left the Hall of Justice we went to "Max's Chicken Resteraunt" for a family lunch !

Lunch was very nice !

We had fried chicken like they used to make it in the USA 30 years ago !

Also some sort of shrimp soup with some huge shrimp .
A beef curry dish , a couple fish , steamed crab rice , crispy pork and drinks as well as a desert made from young coconuts !

No one left hungry or unfull !

Saturday we'll have the actual reception with a whole lechon (piggy) , some sort of beef thing and a bunch of other stuff that I'm not aware of ! Hotel staff tells me they will make surprise for us as we've been loyal guests for about 6 years now ! Plus SIL is the accountant at the hotel we stay !

6-pt,

Congratulations. I wish you and your bride a long and happy life together.

FINALLY! After all these years... Everyone here is VERY happy for you and your new bride. IS she coming home with you this trip? How about the daughter?
I LOVE Filipino food especially crispy skin Lechon with onion and tomato relish with vinegar. Adobo of any kind as well as Pinakbet, Chicken Paria, and mungo bean.

Thank you sir !

She won't be able to come with me this time . I need to fing a job that gives me a W2 or hit the lottery so I can show a means of support . I think pettitioning for the K2 Visa takes about 6-12 months once we start the process .

Congrates...

Last I heard K2's were taking 12 to 18 months, but that was a couple to three years ago I kept up on it. I know that the fiancee visa only takes about 6 months from start to finish.

Yeah I think all in all it would've been quicker with the fiancee visa , but being as I'm technically unemployed I cannot apply for one and expect it to go thru . We also wanted her mother to see the actual wedding so we went this route .
I suspect it'll be a year or two before she gets here .

Once again that requires MONEY LOL's !

Also all my children that go bang bang would miss me if I went for an EXTENDED stay !

I think when I get home I may spend the first week resting and shooting before I return to the shop and internet gunsales !
