A fellow I work with bought an auctioned storage facility's contents and found a replica 1886 takedown. It looks a bit like a Miroku but is totally unmarked other than a set of patent dates under the lever and serial number 7438X. In addition, the top of the barrel is stamped 45-70 in big block letters; the barrel is also 25" long; half octagon and half round. As mentioned, it is a takedown but is missing the forearm and magazine tube. The receiver is French grey with rolled scroll engraving. There is no indication this was restored and it is definitely a modern gun.
I'm hoping this description rings a bell with anyone and if so, maybe we can get spare parts somewhere. My buddy's son rides a motorcycle and wants to be able to pack a takedown if we can get it fixed and working properly.
Thanks, HW

Re: No name 1886 lever gun
Must be made in India, just box it up and I will take care of it. Sounds interesting but if it were Japanese there would be proof marks and such all over it. I wonder if it is Brazilian? If it were Italian it should have plenty of markings too. Please post fotos.......

.
AFAIK, the Italians haven't made a takedown M86 so far, but both Winchester & Miroku have.
Of the two, I would expect a Miroku to have metric screw threads and a rebounding-type hammer - unless it was switched out, of course (or, maybe, an earlier "Browning" version)..................

Maybe rebarreled with the half and half barrel.
