if it is in good shape, that would be nice with some light BP loads. Good luck with your decision. thanks for sharing

.
That's a Field Grade Model 1889 w/twist/Damascus barrels - the last & largest volume made of the Remington hammer shotguns.
The earlier hammerguns were the Model 1873 (hammer lifter action), Model 1876 (lifter action), Model 1878 (heavy Duck), Model 1882 (top lever), Model 1883, and Model 1885-87 (same as M1882 wdiff hammer).
It's easily ID'd by the hammer(s), significantly different from all the rest, with that "teardrop" at the top/rear end of the large "C" shape. (below)
![Image](http://www.wisnersinc.com/additional_info/remington_1889.jpg)
There were about 125,000 or so Model 1889 made, in 10, 12, & 16 gauges.
After that, Remington switched to hammerless actions for the double shotguns, with the Models 1894 & 1900.
FWIW, "IF" it checks out as safe to shoot by a qualified double gunsmith (not some parts-changer) - safe, low-pressure loads are commercially available from companies like RST & PolyWad (google), if you don't reload BP shotshells.

it has some replaced screws, some/all buggered screws, small dents in barrels,
broken and brazed upper tang, most likely replaced butt stock.
now the good, no rust, nice solid barrels/rib, locks up nice and tight.
any idea of what she's worth?

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.
History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

There is a similar one up here at a gun shop, but it has been judged a wall hanger. Beautiful Damascus steel patterns.

I wouldn't value it much more than $150-200 or so, because:
1) It's not in collectible condition.
2) Buggered screws outside means God Know What got buggered inside.
3) The barrel dents have to be professionally ironed out, from inside (special tools).
4) Observable "locks up nice & tight" doesn't necessarily mean it's safe to shoot - It MUST be examined by someone (preferably a gunsmith) knowledeable of the inner working & tolerances of double shotguns. (Damascus is noted for internal rust, where it cannot be seen).
5) I'd certainly want that same knowledgeable double gunsmith to examine the broken/brazed tang repair, before I laid down any $$$.
FWIW, for me, the somewhat clumsy-looking PG area of the replacement buttstock takes it out of even wallhanger status - since I like wallhangers to appear original, although well-used/worn is OK.
That's just me, though, and YMMV.
