Went out to Big5 and wally world today,
ammo is all but non-existent.
Good news both places had plenty of .22 Magnum.
Fence sitters take note.

Re: bad juju
Might be wise to grab some if it's not too overpriced. Very little to be had of anything at my nearby LGS's.

I think I've got @ 2k .22 mag and one CZ bolt gun. Though my dad has one of the Ruger .22M/ 10-22s that is
a tack driver with the lighter bullets. I gave him @ 500 rounds of the 30-35 grain bullets and kept the
40-45's for my CZ.

There's been quite a run on ammo here in Utah also.Mescalero wrote:Went out to Big5 and wally world today,

Some of the calibers are gone in our local "Ace Hardware." Across the parking lot at Kent's (grocery) there is still a good selection.
Getting limited at many LGS' The military exchange on Hill AFB is limiting sales to two boxes per day.
It is getting worse everyday - suppliers can't supply enough for demand!

Went out and grabbed 2000 22 lr this weeks as all our 22 lr comes from the USA. Figured while we have plenty in stores resupply will be nil till production catches up south of the border.

I'm thinking the same thing as Samb. Might make a trip into town tomorrow to stock up on bricks of primers and containers of powder, and 22 long rifles while the supply is still plentiful. It's only a matter of months (weeks?) before the short supply begins to move north of the border.

The only thing I have that shoots 22 Mag is my OM SS. Shooting the 22 Mag from a revolver is what started me on the route to deafness. I shant do that again without a life or death incentive.

Ruger is now making a 22mag version of the LCP. It reviewed on Gunblast
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Re: bad juju
Kirk,
I was surprised went to the Walmart nearest my house which is on the edge of the city and they were completely out of 22 Lr, went a little further into the city and they had a good bit. I only reloaded about a thousand rounds last year so a thousand primers would replace those I used but yes I think a couple pounds of powder and a thousand more primers would refill my stash. Time to do a inventory. With seven brothers, and millions of gophers one can never have too much 22 ammo. We seem to have lots of remanufactured pistol ammo available here.

Re: bad juju
Found plenty of .45-70 out and about today, and most bolt gun hunting calibers are still available, but 22 LR, .223, and 9mm are completely gone as is most ball type practice ammo. High end self defense ammo is still available. Walmart is completely wiped out, but they get some in every other day or so. Whatever they get is gone by 8:30 AM.

Re: bad juju
So today I went to the local shooting supply store here in Canada. They had plenty of primers and powder, but as I was getting my stuff, another fellow walked in and asked for some 223 ammo. The salesman said they were sold out and their supplier had told them they were backordered until 2015!
I asked why. The salesman said it was because of what was going on in the USA. I have enough stuff to probably last me a decade, but just to top it off a bit, I bought two bricks (1,000 each) of primers and another pound of 5744. I've decided to keep augmenting my stash.

Re: bad juju
Stopped by one of the bigger shops in the area this afternoon.
Shelves pretty picked clean. Had two ARs for $1600 each.
Powder was all but gone except some oddball stuff. Primers were non-existent except for shot shell pmrs.
Still had big piles of .40 S&W and 9mm and a pallet of .380s but prices were double than the last time I was there.
I actually saw a guy pay $35.99 for ONE, twenty round box of .223s!
.22magnum was worked over but they had a stack of Winchester's PDX1. Pricey but I couldn't resist. My CZ loves 40-45 gr. bullets and these things look nasty.
Only thing they had plenty of was single action revolvers and bolt action rifles. Guess the panic hasn't gotten that far yet.

Just south of Nashville...
I stopped yesterday at Academy Sports, shelves were literally full of ammo.
There were plenty of hunting rounds & shotshells along with .17HMR, .38 & .357 were readily available by the case with no limit.
Signs posted everywhere indicated select pistol cartridges (.40, .44, .45, 9&10 mm, along with .22RF) were available but behind the counter at the front customer service desk and were limited to one box per customer per day.
I bought a few Hornaday & Speer Gold Dot .38 & .357 self defense loads.
I stopped by the front counter to take a look; the only ammo available was .44 mag and 308 rifle ammo & both were limited to one box per person per day.
No 9mm nor .22LR, .22WMR or .223/5.56 in the store.
