Picked it up last week for $480, it was dirty, covered in some residue and had what looked like a long scratch @ 18" along the barrel. Well a good cleaning was all it needed and the scratch turned out to be white paint! The stock has some small dings and dents so I'm going to strip off that glossy Browning finish and redo the wood.
So far I'm thrilled with it. Can't wait to shoot it. I'm thinking of one of the Providence Tool repro Lyman 21 rec. sight but the buckhorn sight that's on it seems to be dead on.
Anyway...
Had a table at the Maumee (Ohio) gun collectors association show yesterday. What a zoo, the line to get in was 100-300 yards long until about noon! Not an AR in the place under $1800, most were $2k+. M1a's $2600 and an H&K 91 sold for $5k with a plié of mags and some other things.
I sold a NIB Mini-14 with one spare aftermarket mag for $1300! and that old Russian Berdan for twice what I paid for it. Looked all day for something good but nothing I wanted. Finally spotted an H&R ShiKari Handi Rifle in .45-70 with a
$150 tag on it. Offered $120 for it and off I we went.
Well got it apart this morning to clean it and found out why so cheap.
The lug that the fore end screws into was broken off. Looks like some 'billy tried to solder it back on but it snapped right off when I tried to unscrew it.
Going to call tomorrow about getting it fixed, really like the little bugger. First time in years I've been taken. Oh well, I'm sure I can get it fixed somewhere.

Problem.

Anyway, had a good run last couple months so can't complain to much.
