Long range 22 LR.......

We just tried this last fall and it was great fun. I have a gong range and the grandkids were hitting the gong at 250 yds. Just estimating, but I think I should fix up some sights for the fun of it. Same thing as my Sharps 45-110 but more for little shoulders.

Have any of you done much of this? The kids are really taken with the 1 1/2 mile warning on the box.

Well we used all the 22's, but the Springfield bolt from the thirties was the most fun.

I'm a member of two clubs that shoot a reduced BPCR silhouette course, chickens at 77 meters off hand, then pigs at 100 meters, turkeys at 150 meters, rams at 200 meters , all off cross-sticks or off the bench. Lots of fun especially in a little wind. The course was designed for the guys with the Sharps buffalo rifles with .22 rimfire inserts, but both my clubs just let you shoot what you bring. Long range or short range, a tiny target is a skilled shot, at a tiny target. :D

Besides smaller size steel as others have noted, I often scatter Necco wafers on the berm; On a windy day even at 100 yards can be pretty challenging.
