Friend of mine had one, asked me to sight it in. With factory ammo got a group right about at 1 inch. Recoil was not bad, probably due to the stock design. Great gun you have there.
In the High Desert of Southern Calif. ..."on the cutting edge of going back in time"...
Took out and shot tonight. Thought it would have a fireball like my .30 carbine blackhawk, but not that bad actually. Your right, it doesn't kick like I expected.
They got a bad rap for blast and recoil, but my guess is poor stock design, and bad choice of factory powders, combined with a short barrel. Extend those to 22" and would have been a whole nuther animal.
I wouldn't mind a nice old 600 or 660 in 350 REM MAG !
But if I were able to choose I think I'd like it better in a 6.5mm REM MAG .
Incidently I had one of the newer Remington Model 673's in 350 REM MAG and it was an excellent shooter on paper . Just never thought the 673 handled as well as the 600/660 rifles .
Parkers , Mannlicher Schoenauer’s , 6.5mm's and my family in the Philippines !
He's got to 6.5. He will never give that one up.
He knew I wanted the 350. Even bought some ammo for it amonth ago in the chances that come across one.

I know where one is lurking, different caliber, always thought they were cool.
Maybe buy myself a Christmas present. ( while I give what I already have away )
I have a 600 in .308. Very nice light gun to carry. Also have one of the 700 classics in .350. Its a great caliber, just right for any north american game.

6pt, did you ever shoot any cast in yours.
Byron
No I've not shot cast in any of my bolt actions yet !
Wait I did shoot in the old BDL 30-06 but wasn't overly impressed !

Man I was counting on you for something with a Ranch Dog mould.
I think I have a couple .35 moulds, but I don't think the are heavy enough.
Might have to send the gun to you to work up a load.
Actually the 200 factory don't kick near as bad as I was expecting.
Maybe a 200-220 grain cast at 2,300?

That was mild? I don't know what the 200's are doing yet, but pretty sure that load smacks a little harder.
I had a Whelen in the 700 Classic and the 350 in a 673 . I thought with 200 grainers the Whelen had a more noticable recoil . But I also believe the Classic may have been a bit less in weight then the Remington 673 .

They chambered the 350 Rem Mag for 700 Classic in 1987, If I remember correctly. I found one new in box in the early 90's and believe me I didn't take long to buy it. I have always shot handloads for it, mostly 200gr roundnoses and 180gr pointed soft points. Both shoot to the same point of aim at 200yds, of course the 180 is starting out faster, but I used to often carry both loads, and could switch whenever I wanted to.
Best whitetail thumper I ever used, especially with the 200gr roundnose, it hits hard.

The .350 rem. will out run the .338 Win. Mag. Great gun and a great round. Congrats and have fun. 1886.

Yes, I think the classic is a very light gun. It is much lighter than my 700 classic lightweight in 375 H+H and my 700 in .308 Win. My guess is the gun itself is right at 7 pounds.
When I was hunting black bear in SE Alaska I noticed every store I stopped at had a good supply of 350 mag ammo and was told it was a big seller up there. I Passed on a Ruger 77 with the boat paddle stock on it shortly after I returned from that trip and bought a 338 Win instead. Always second guessed myself for that one.
The 600 type sure has a cult following it seems to be a love hate relationships. But everyone I know who has one loves it.
