American Spirit Arms had BCGs in stock as of this morning for $160.damienph wrote:No kidding, I put off buying a BCG for an AR build I did. Just used one out of one of my other ones. Too late, if you can find one in stock somewhere they are going for. $300+/- for a part that a was $125 last Thursday.
That's a good second choice.....Maybe in short 30....AJMD429 wrote:See my comments on sorrow about why I'll never be able to buy a Ruger SR-223...

The underground market will never dry up......Ever.Old Time Hunter wrote:Had a meeting of the minds yesterday between all of the FFL holders servicing the county I live in. Turns out there are 11 full fledged FFL holders, some of which are smiths. Personally I just have a C&R, but got invited along with a surprising 14 other C&R FFL holders.
Very interesting meeting, the FFL holders that are primarily retail outlets were pretty much all for the guberment closing the Gun Show loop hole. But, they are dead set against any restrictions on EBR's.
That being said, the question was asked by the moderator of the get together what the supply and demand was in relationship to EBR's. Turns out, among the retailers, there are only 18 EBR's in stock amongst all of them and they all have deposits on the ERB's in stock. Total on the waiting list: 57...and that is all since Monday!
Now for the kicker, one of the smith's has over 200 ERB's in stock! Mixed manufacturers, but all new! He generally does not sell retail, but runs a customization-enhancement service. Thought the retail dealers were going to eat him alive. They offered obscene pricing to help move his stock. 'Course he declined.
Then the biggest surprise of the day, an ATF field agent was leaning against the wall and took the smith out of the building to talk to him. Did not see the smith the rest of the day...wonder what happened?

My question here is; who invited the BATF Field Agent to the meeting and for what purpose?BenT wrote:Old Time Hunter wrote:

He probably had a conversation about the enhancements. You can only do certain modifications to rifles before you need a FFL manufacturing license, which is different from a gunsmithing FFL. If someone brings you a gun to rebarrel that's fine. But if you take your own rifle and rebarrel to sell . You are now a gun manufacturer.

Griff, I believe that the Wyndham guns are built by some of the original Bushmaster employees in their old Maine facility. Supposed to be good quality rifles. My DPMS 24" bull and my son's similar RRA bull are both very accurate rifles. They are every bit as accurate as my .223 Savage. I think that you will be very pleased with your rifle.Griff wrote:I just bought a Windham mdl SRC. Got it at WallyWorld for $1,005.80 along with a Bushnell RedDot mdl TRS-32 including tax.
I've run about 150 rounds thru it and so far, find that it's adequate for a SD or varmit control gun that VERY much like a stock gun. The trigger is just a tad gritty, and a little heavy, but with so few shots out of it, I suspect it will get a tad better. A stone wouldn't be a bad idea, just for now, I'm not familiar enough with it to go workin' on the trigger. (sorry for the poor quality pic, camera phone in dim light)
My son just bought a Colt Competition CRP-18 Pro on a FTF deal night before last. New, unfired, with a Burris MTAC 1-4x24 scope for $2000. That's a few buck less than the MSRP on the rifle alone. Now his trigger? Smooth as glass and breaks VERY cleanly!
They're guaranteed to be less that 1moa outta the box, and if he can duplicate the supplied group, he'll be doing VERY well indeed:
Windham makes a Varmit gun that I'm also looking at. While I've got ½ of what he's got in his, in mine, I don't think I got ½ the gun. Every review I've read of the Windham sez it's a good solid AR.
Yep, even tho' I had to wait several days for my 10-pack of mags, they came in yesterday. D&H aluminum with MagPul followers, supposedly the same as under contract to Uncle Sugar. Already out of stock. I'm going to order a couple of 10 round mags just for using when shooting off the bench.
BTW, Cheaper Than Dirt has come back online and said they will be selling rifles again via the internet, just that they need to tighten up their controls. Even tho' the link I gave above the Windham Varmit Exterminator shows that they don't, their homepage has a banner explaining the deal.
Update: ving-thorr, I took another look at their website and although all of their BCGs are sold out. I was able to order a carrier and bolt separately for the same price as a complete BCG. So I just wanted to say thank you very much for the tip!damienph wrote:Thanks for the tip but they are out of stockving-thorr wrote:American Spirit Arms had BCGs in stock as of this morning for $160.damienph wrote:No kidding, I put off buying a BCG for an AR build I did. My nephew's CMP rifle is an Armalite. A very accurate rifle.Paladin wrote:I have an Armalite AR-10 and a AR-180 that was to be used as a short range carbine that after shooting a few times at the range and killing a couple of deer with the AR-10 changed the EoTech to a 2.5x 10 scope as it shot to well at longer distance that the red dot would do.
Everything else I have heard about Armalite has been good from my friends who have them.
Federal, Arizona, or New Mexico?Mescalero wrote:I questioned my reasoning when I bought that P1911 a while back.
No regrets now.
Odd, even though I have a concealed carry, I still got hung up in a tecnicality, I was put on hold and the time period they had to do something expired, the dealer was compelled to give me the gun.
Still, it should not have been an issue.
SSN very close to someone else's they want to watch, they need to take the physical description, etc. to make sure you're who you say you are.Mescalero wrote:I think Federal,
because the problem came from when he called me in, but my clearence for the CCW came from the federal level; so why should a problem have arisen?
Yep, the info about them is all over their website. And so far, yes I'm pleased.damienph wrote:Griff, I believe that the Wyndham guns are built by some of the original Bushmaster employees in their old Maine facility.
