I built one a few years back for use at deer camp. Mine uses a 5 gallon
bucket and I based it off of the Humanure toilets. After use, you cover
what you deposited with some sort of material. I use a mixture of dirt, campfire ash
and partially composted leaves. When it gets half full, I dump it in a hole, away from
camp and cover that with a layer of dirt.
I am able to keep the box in the vestibule of my tent or inside our old office trailer we
have at camp when the weather isn't the best for the tent.
My box is built from 3/4" plywood and painted white. Better able to withstand the weather
when I sometimes leave it outside. It doesn't look near as nice as yours.
If you haven't seen the Humanure website, it is interesting. Some folks use these as their
primary toilets, being "off grid".
This one is for indoor use in the winter if power goes out but mainly built it just because.
Seen one on ebay and had to make one.
When we were kids at grandmas the system was to put a couple dippers of water, then after use take too the outhouse and empty.
Beat the heck out of a walk to the outhouse in the dark at -20 degrees.

Grandma called them chamber pots. She always had one in her room, even in her
apartment in the city. I used to see them wherever there was no indoor plumbing.
Now I only see them in antique stores.
Today while looking on ebay i see they used to call them diaper pots,i didn`t know that.
