Building muzzleloaders , blacksmithing, knife makeing , leatherwork , bullet casting .

These all tie together for me ,after getting started in 70's had to learn how to make do .

Found out it was all quite enjoyable :D

How about...

* Building wooden ship models

* Building plastic model kits

* Electric remote control cars/planes/helicopters

* Tying flies -- and making your own fishing rods

* Live steam engines (miniature)

How about reloading? That would get you out shooting more (ask me how I know!) :wink:

Then again, there's always volunteering at an agency that serves the needy, poor, elderly or animals.

Good luck!

Hmmmm !

I kinda still like old Frick Steam Engines !

Old Hart Parr steel wheel tractors !

New Holland single cylinder hit and miss farm engines .

Flying to and from the Philippines .

And to be toally honest I truely like seeing different parts of our country that I've not been to before , well with the exception of a good many of the URBAN areas !

This year has been a little tough hunting wise . Well atleast here on our property deer have been lacking for about a month now . So I am thinking something I have to deal with each year may be taking over . I've kinda been debating hunting here at home for the last several years . After the lack of success this season so far it leads me to believe I might be better off hunting the Blackwater my normal two times and perhaps some with a crossbow next year and stop with the whitetails here at home .

But I have a good nine months to debate that one over and over with myself .

1. DRINKING

2. GAMBLING

And last and certainly not the least !

3. WOMANIZING

:lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

I am quite happy with myself I can honestly say I drink very little if any . I do not gamble other then 2 lottery tickets each week and finally I have not womanized in perhaps 10 years !

Yep I'm kinda dull :lol: :lol: :lol:

got any ideas?

R/C cars or airplanes? --- i have a blast with my little "race trucks" --- but i have not spent much time with them in the last year.

ITs a hobby i enjoy in 2 or 3 month spurts, then i put 'em away for awhile, then at some point i will decide to go hit the races again

I'm 41 years old and there are guys that i race with between ages 25 and 65-70 years old. The older guys are sometimes pretty darn solid because they have more time on their hands to work on their driving skillzz :lol:

Well, since the country is legalizing dope at the same time it wants to ban guns (and self-defense, self-determination, and free speech), I think raising and smoke pot might be worthwhile pursuits.

I was into flying RC airplanes for a few years, but like any other hobby that can get expensive. I had a great time learning to fly and watching my skills grow. But like any other machine, they can have failures, and when a levergun gets dropped and hits the ground you pick it up, dust it off and shoot it. When a plane does that at 50 or 60 mph you loose enough money to buy another levergun. It can be a lot of fun though.

Build an inpenetratable fortress.

Craft an army of life-sized terra cotta warriors.

Develop and patent a humane squirrel launching mechanism.

Raise a chicken and teach it to play the piano.

That should keep you busy for a while.

I am getting old enough that it pains me to stand at a machine for my metalsworking/gunsmithing hobby. I plan to eventually sit down for my hobby activities..Plan to buy good microscopes and take up microphotography..Hunt bugs outdoors for bit of fresh air and then settle down at the bench to zoom in and take pictures..It'd be an interesting and cheap enough hobby to get into on a modest budget that just everybody and his brother isnt already doing.

Also, raising chickens is cheap, you get eggs/meat, and they are fun little critters.

Here's another one of mine that costs very little and is a lot of fun: making and using atlatls and darts. This was Homo sapiens' primary weapon for perhaps 40,000 years BEFORE the bow and arrow. I like juniper, yew and hazel in particular for the atlatl, and prefer red osier dogwood shoots for the dart shafts, which can be 5-7 feet long, with the heavy end toward the front. PM me for more if interested. Paleoplanet is the best place on the Net to learn about these fascinating yet simple tools.

My hobbies included Ultra Light flying, woodworking, hiking, and home reno projects pre-cancer.

Post cancer, anything that involves my kids or grand kids if I had any. Absolutely the best activity God ever sanctioned for stress relief. Healthy life style choices, sounds like a foolish commercial but it works.

My work in the shop is much more practical now. Wood projects are for the house, repairs, or school projects. Wrenching is to keep the vehicles up and save a few bucks but I really enjoy it.

Hobbies that I am revisiting post-cancer are photography and canoeing with the kids, 9 and 11. Every Canadian should be handy with a paddle and a lever action!

I enjoy working with leather and making knives. Besides those, guns are just about my only hobby. I dabble a little in making bows and piddling around with other stuff. Then there's reloading and bullet casting.

Restoring a collector car yourself is a very rewarding, albeit expensive hobby. It's kind of like building a model, only on a grander scale, plus you get to drive it! This is my '55 Chevrolet Nomad. I've owned it since August 1969. It took me nine years to restore it back to its factory new, all original condition. It is now worth considerably more than I have invested in it! :D

I enjoy taking it to car shows, or just a nice Sunday drive.

One thing I always wanted to know about was electronics; how to make stuff out of capacitors, resistors, etc.

I recently bought a kit to make a small amp which will be used to boost coyote calls. It didn't take long and was extremely satisfying to complete. It worked great for a few minutes, then I connected an overly powerful battery and it blew up. "Pop - ffft!".

So I got to do it all over again. I had a pleasant time with the soldering gun and instructions. But I'd like to know more. And there are lots of kits out there.
