Latest project done, Pictures
I finally finished my latest project.
A used (1981) Ruger Single Six SS .22 that was handled, shot and never cleaned.
It was pretty scuffed up and filthy but mechanically fine.
I found it at my local dealers and decided it would make a good project gun.
I shortened the barrel to 4 1/4",shortened the ejector housing and related parts.
Replaced the sights,a couple of springs and polished it up and made a new set of
grips for it.
It turned out to be a pretty sweet little shooter.
Now to find time to do the same to several other guns I have been holding back "for the day".

Thats really nice. Do you have a b4 pic of it? What holster ar you going to make/use for it?
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Re: Latest project done, Pictures
3leggedturtle, I started this one on Thanksgiving day,my wife had the camera up at her
moms house so no before pictures. It was pretty scratched up though. I had to start with
220 grit wet or dry to get them all out and worked up to 600 grit and then to the buffer.
I also turned the billboard off the barrel while I had it in the lathe for shortening and crowning.
Any parts I got from Ruger only took 3 days from the time I called them until they arrived.
If you look up the part numbers yourself, ordering from Ruger easy and quick.
I did have to re order one part though. The person I ordered the part from took it down correctly but the guy in the warehouse transposed the number and sent a wrong part. a phone call and three more days later I was back in business.
It was a fun project.
Salvo & Griff,Leather to come later. Have many other honey-do`s that will have to come first.

Ooohhh...shiney...
Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

pwl44m , I just like em short best. I have long barrel ones too
and select one of those when hunting or serious about accuracy.
There was nothing wrong with the barrel.
This little gun came from Ruger with an extra cylinder for .22 mag.
that was not with the gun when I bought it. Many of them are lost over the years.

You can usually buy extra cylinders from ebay. I did and mine dropped right in.

Rusty,
That is what I did, inherited it from my mothers husband when he died.
Was not expensive as I recall.
