Thinking of a new gun

Been doing a lot of gun related soul searching and think I have found my next gun

Should be a fun project and from what I have come up with they are good shooters. We have a couple of cap locks think it is time for a rock lock.

Nice looking rifle, looks just like my Pedersoli Blue Ridge rifle.

I think of new guns just about every day !

I think of new muzzle loaders , I think of new bows , I think of new crossbows .

I also think of new to me old guns EVERY DAY !

Great looking long gun, I found flintlocks to be quite a different learning experience, took me quite a while to master them...

Jeremy, Y2K and I just re-watched "The Last of the Mohicans" again two weekends ago, and I started thinking about getting myself my own "Killdeer" again. I was just looking at this very same gun not a week ago!!!

Great minds think alike!!!

But... after the shooting in CT on Friday, and the renewed push for gun bans, it looks like I will need to focus on magazines and a new soul-less EBR first...

What you can't see is that my twin is a lefty who shoots "righty" rifles, so that flash-boom-bang is going off right in front of him -- but he doesn't see to mind. Me? I'll flinch every time...

My front stuffer is a 50 cal Hawken built from a kit many years ago. I guess the kit came from Thompson Center as the barrel had that infernal 1 in 48 twist. Just right for a patched round ball in 36 or 40 cal but too quick for a 50 and too slow for a bullet so I bought a Green Mountain bullet barrel and installed it. Had to add the other wedge loop which they graciously included with the barrel. Shoots little bitty groups with 95 Goex and the 44 cal 200 grain XTP in a sabot (1642 fps on my chronograph). Course mine's a percussion. It was a beautiful, traditional Hawken until I installed a receiver sight and then later a scope. So shoot me. My eyes aren't what they used to be.
Both the Bridger and Carson are really good lookin' guns. Would be another project though which I don't need.

I'm afraid that I could never take "frame 5" and turn it into frame 1-4!

I've always wanted a flinter. I've shot one a few times, had an old gunner's mate tell me that if you can master a flintlock, you can shoot anything else better than before.

My Renegade was built from a kit and we had a lot of fun with it and have put meat in the freezer with it. This one I dont know if I would hunt with it as we have a .50cal and a .32cal so deer and squirrels are covered but it would be riot at the range

This will have to wait until I get back from my next overseas pump as right now I have a new soulless auto loader handgun on lay awake for CCW.

They will definitely teach follow through and trigger disapline. I have a 40,45,50,58 and 62 all in flint. You can find chert rock laying around to light it off and powder can be made. I think 45 is a very wise choice.

Very true every thing needed to fire one can be found all around us. Makes it a perfect tool to have around the house when you think about it that way.
