Dwight is a great songwriter. He was real popular in the late 80s to mid 90s. He's helped a lot of artists get their start. He's one of my favorite country artists. These days he does not tour the big venues and can be seen mostly at casinos.
Kind regards,
Tycer

Great singer, one of my favorites. However, as stated previously, he does not do the big tours here in the US anymore and hasnt released a new CD in quite sometime. I am pretty sure he is no longer on a recording contract as any CDs in the stores are remakes of old songs.

Dwight played the character Doyle Hargraves in the movie Slingblade. The character was a real rotten guy and Dwight played him well. Billy Bob Thornton's character Carl hacked him up with a lawnmower blade; it was a feel-good moment.

Agreed. He pretty much topped out in the late 90s and has semi-retired.

He released a new cd a couple months ago two pears I believe is the title, not as twangy as he used to be, at least the parts I heard.

Well if you ask me country wasn't country when Travis Tritt came along.

Dwight is still touring but is in Australia right now and has an album out.

He also played an army officer in "When Trumpets Fade" which was about the assault on the Huertgen forest.

Dwight used to be pretty famous on the music scene. I guess he still is with the female crowd, age 40-60. For some reason the ladies love him. He seems to be more into movies than music these days. Seen him in quite a few the last several years. Personally I never cared much for him. Then again I don't much care for anything on country radio these days. I like real music, real country, music that has heart and soul.

Thanks for that info boys. Your right Old Savage he is in Australia right now, wife and I went to see him last Friday night here in Sydney, and then again on Monday night down the coast at Woollongong.
We both just love his music, and for me I reckon he is the best solo singer ever, wife loves his on stage moves.
He is real good value for money sang for two hours here in Sydney and about an hour and a half down at the Gong.
Alan Jackson was here a little while back, and my nephew went to see him was real disappointed, a lot of his songs he just sang in medley, not real good when you pay a hundred bucks plus to see these guys sing.
Beach Boys were here in August and we went to see them FANTASTIC..............the best group ever.
If Dwight or the Beach Boys come back next week, next month, or next year we will be there to see them.

I was a big Dwight fan when he still had Pete Anderson as his lead guitar/producer/band leader.

Dwight and Pete were keeping real traditional twangy country music alive, with a Bakersfield vibe.

Then Dwight got sidetracked by acting and lost Pete.

He can still sing though.

And he played a sleazy doctor in the Crank movie and it's sequel. I think he'll take any acting roll they throw at him. I guess I would too if paid enough.

He is a great singer and has kept traditional country alive but I doubt he will ever win an Oscar. Not unless his acting gets better. I tried to watch a movie (Western) that he wrote and directed and starred in called South of Heaven West of Hell. Don't bother even trying to watch this. The reviews on Net Flix cut this movie to pieces and I thought well it cannot be that bad. Well it was I quit watching it it was terrible. But I like his singing and the comments about Pete Anderson is right on a heck of a guitar player and musician.

I saw him at Loyld Nobel in Okla as an opening act for Hank Jr ,and Dwight kicked butt!

Course we all got thrown out for complaining about not being able to go out and reload our

boot flasks with more Jim Beam. They said you go out the door you don't get back in.

And some chicks had six packs in thier big butt bags and someone blowed some weed

in my direction and I didn't duck! But a good time did happen and Dwight was good.

He was also in The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, the Newton Boys and a whole ton of lesser known flicks and Tv stuff.

I was I big fan of his earlier stuff and more traditional sounding stuff.
