OT: Nath/Gamekeeper... I weep for the Empire.
A London street is experimenting with padded lampposts to protect those not paying attention from banging into them, ITN reports.

On another forum, I talk with a guy from Scotland. The way he describes Glasgow, I'd say people walking into lamp posts is the least of anyone's worries.

Hey, I resemble that remark...Jason_W wrote:On another forum, I talk with a guy from Scotland. The way he describes Glasgow, I'd say people walking into lamp posts is the least of anyone's worries.
Do you have any idea how hard it is to keep focused on where you are going if it's -20 C. and you're wearing a Prince Charlie?
Neither do I. But I've been to Glasgow.

I'm trying to think of something snappy to say, but I'm flabbergasted.Old Ironsights wrote:A London street is experimenting with padded lampposts to protect those not paying attention from banging into them, ITN reports.

Anybody dumb enough to live in London should be in a padded cell.
Padded lamp posts would only be necessary in that stupid city, especially around Westminster.

I honestly think we only become better through struggle.perry owens wrote:Charles Darwin must be spinning in his grave.

In the absence of struggle we stagnate and go backwards.

I was watching a BBC show the other day and a couple had their house broken into and the man reached under his bed to get a cricket bat. Anyhow (by other means) the baddies were killed. While the police were talking about what happened one said something like "He must have expected trouble keeping a cricket bat in his bedroom like he did."
And yet you have some real warriors..

No need to shout! If you are referring to the Lady Hope Letter and later derivatives I would argue that Darwin's alleged death-bed conversion to Christianity has been very widely reported and also, in my view, widely discredited.perry owens,.............NO, HE'S NOT!!! He disavowed the THEORY of evolution before he died, something that's not widely reported.

mklwhite, I am allowed to defend my self in Britain with equal force. So if an intruder is threatening me with a weapon I can use a weapon of equal force, ok so far, good now get this. If I have a knife or ready one of my guns "just in case" as in being prepared I would automatically be charged with intent. Not intent to defend but intent to commit murder!
I no longer vote, I have no pride to be British, I think British history is absolutly shamfull and I think the only way to be truelly content in Britain today is via having 90% of your brain removed.
Dear Lord give me strength.
Sorry for going on
Nath.

It is so frustrating. I see so many fine, honorable, brave and patriotic people on both sides of the pond. People who love freedom. Yet, on both sides, it seems the sheep just gain more ground each year, and are not content with being cowards themselves - they want to strip all honor from everyone.
I question sometimes what kind of world I brought my children into. My son almost got suspended from school last week. Two of his buddies got into a fight on the playground. Instead of running away and telling a teacher (the preferred sheep answer), or standing there and doing nothing, he stepped in to break it up. Teachers came up at that point and hauled all of them down to the principals office. The prinicipal was ready to eject them all, but the VP heard all three independently, and knew my son did nothing wrong - though technically against school policy. Had they suspended him you'd likely all be reading about me in the news right now.
I explained to my son that he did nothing wrong and I was proud of him. I also let him know - as I have done in the past - that he'd never get in trouble with us at home for doing the right thing.
Didn't mean to hi-jack this thread, but it appears that our way of life - independence, honor, freedom, faith, family - it is all under relentless assault.

It's OK Nath.
When I spent that 5 weeks in Hemel, I came back to the US with a new appreciation of what I had taken for granted.
I did then, and do now; feel for the good people I met, you and Gamekeeper, good people in a bad situation.
One of the guys wanted to leave the UK, because his Indian wife ( from India ) was looked down upon, I told him to come to the southwest.
No one here cares

I reckon you can tell by the posts of Nath and I, we ain't exactly happy with the way our country has gone down the pan. There are still a few good old boys about but as YK said the sheep keep gaining more ground each year. Folks like us are a thorn in the side of the politically correct mob and I intend to remain a bloody thorn for as long as possible!
