This wasn't exactly what we were looking for yesterday, but we couldn't pass up the opportunity. I called this coyote in from across a cut beanfield and my youngest son dropped the hammer on him at about 25 yards. That little 357 mag Marlin is an indispensable, do-it-all tool!

Love it!

It is a STRONG candidate for the "just one gun" scenario...!

Thanks for all the replies! For those of you interested in these things, we skinned this 'yote last night after I got off work. The load used was a 180 grain Hornady XTP JHP on top of 12.5 grains of 2400 powder. The bullet entered just below his chin (do canines have chins?) nicked his windpipe then proceeded to create a wound channel through his spine the size of a 50 cent piece, then it continued out the back of his neck. Not a fur friendly load by any means but he was absolutely DRT. I've done the same to a deer's neck at fifty yards with the same gun and load. Plus it is just so pleasant to shoot. Really works for us!
