At our last place, I claimed the room Number One son vacated after he graduated. A year or so later we moved and my MiL stayed with us so I lost "my" room. She went to a nursing home not quite a year later but I never got the room back.
Well a little over a month ago The Boy finally flew the coop and I claimed "my" room. I didn't whiz in the corner to mark my territory but the thought did cross my mind when She Who Puts Up With Me started making noises about a "guest room". I figured a better plan was to do this:
As the final hint that this was MY room, I hung a picture that I haven't been able to display since August 2004:
The Boy still has some things to pick up/sort though/throw away and I have to patch a few smallish holes in the walls before the room can be painted a shade of khaki. SWPUWM calls it "macadamia" but with something like 86 shades of khaki (depending on the country and time of issue) it's close enough for me...
If these walls could talk, I'd listen to the floor.
Yes, that looks like a real fine start. I'm sure that SWPUWY will also appreciate a neat, well-lit place when she wants to load a few shells for that "girls out to shoot" day.

Staking a claim was a good move! Your immediate action drill now needs to be painting that place toot sweet!! Egads, I couldn't be in there more than a few minutes before that blue would have me wanting to gouge my eyes out.
AWP101,
Right on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whatever the " she " factor is, you have a right to ignore it!
You have limited time left, it is YOUR TIME.
A fully carpeted reloading room. Cool.
Does it also come with reverse cycle air conditioning?

I have a 4br house for two of us... and she's cllaimed all four! Keeps tellin' me I'll get one... but 16 years aftter the kid vacated... I'm still in the barn! On thhe positive side, there's no phone, 'net and just me 'n the horses, my radio and a refrigerator w/ my sodas and the occasional beer! Ah... the peace, solitude and QUIET!

No I ain't ready, but let's do it anyway!
I had a "train" room. It was pretty much all taken up with my HO layout. But SWMBO decided we needed a guest room. Now all I have is a much smaller layout suspended by wires from the garage rafters. Which is where I also do all my "gun" stuff.
Can you imagine not liking the smell of Hoppes? At least this is SoCal, and with a nicely finished garage (read insulated), and good ventillation (read AC) it's a fair man cave. Problem is her darned car takes up part of it. Sigh, need a bigger house (you'd think four bedrooms would be enough for two people). But she has her "guest" room, and I need an office, so with her taking the last bedroom for her "stuff", I get the garage.
It could be worse, there was a time when the boys were still here, all I had was a outbuilding in the backyard.

I'm 60 years old and I've never had my own "man" room. Women always want to crowd you out and take your space from you. My mother was like that, my wife is like that, and I suspect if I wanted a room for myself I would have to pee in the corner to mark my territory. And that might not even work.
Congrats on the room, now a suggestion. PUT A LOCK ON THE DOOR, and keep the keys to yourself.

Ah - HAH ! - An "office"...............................
FWIW, back when we were renters, wifey-poo was A-ok with my self-built 4' W x 6' H wooden gun cabinet (w/glassed doors) in one end of our livingroom; but when we bought this house (in 1973), I built a basement gunroom-cum-gunvault with a safe/vault door, etc.
I reload/gunsmith/tinker in a different working/utility part of the basement, though.
