Considering the restriction our British bretheren have to face, this is about as close to an AR they are ever going to get. But it is impressive how the mind of man can find solutions to problems. Some Brit was thinking.

True...!

I wonder why they didn't just go with a pump-action, though - I understand those are already available (never seen one though)...

Pump action centre-fire rifles are banned in the UK. I had to give up my beloved Colt Lightning. There are a number of straight-pull conversions of AR's and Mini-14's available here.

You said "give up" your Lightning. You actually had to give it to some gov't. official? Was it confiscated?

The Yard had a Registration List. He got a Letter. He had to "turn it in" (have it stolen at gunpoint by the .gov) or get The Tower...

That's a scary-looking black rifle. It must be banned, of course. For the good of society.

This just proves that AR hysteria is truly about ...well, that's not pertinent, I guess.

If you want a lever gun that locks up and operates (in the bolt, carrier, and lockup sense) exactly like an AR, just buy a current BLR. They're nearly identical.
