Winchester 32 Special Factory Loads?

Post by Mainehunter »

I'm heading up to camp for the annual deer hunting trip and I'm leaving this Tuesday. Looking for any recommendations on factory loads for my newly acquired Winchester model 64.

Federal, followed by Federal, and if you can't buy Feds (which I highly recommend!)
Core-lokts second, winchester third. Not going to even talk about Hornady's, but seriously, find the Federals, best bullet, best BC of (with exception of Hornady) them all.

Will be most likely toting the 32 loaded with Feds myself, but may hunt a different place, have statewide permit, may have to go to the 338ME.

The only factory loads that I have ever used in my 336SC is Remington 170gr CoreLokts. I am a fan of the Remington CoreLokt bullet. But I usually load my own using Hornady 170gr Interlock JFPs.

I suggest buying what you can find. Around here, where the .32 WS was pretty popular, ammo is STILL hard to find.

So far I have seen only Remington Core-Lokts at a couple of places today. One of the guys that's going up to camp he hunts with his Marlin 336 in 32 SPL uses the Hornady Leverevolution and swears by it but he has to order those on-line. There are a couple other places I can try but it looks like the Remington's are the only choice I have.

You can't go wrong with Core-Lokts. Dead is dead!

Have a great hunt with that new 64!

Good hunting.

Remington cor-lokts will do you right if you put them where they belong. I handload Hornady 170 gr FP over a dose of either IMR 30-31 or Win 748 both are good loads in my carbine. I can tell you they make a deer go all loose on impact.
Beautiful 64 by the way!

I find the thought of firing those dreadful little yellow thingies through a Winchester 32 W.S., to horrible to contemplate. Only cast bullet should go through one of those.

Speaking of Win. 32s. Here is mine, it is a 1959 vintage and with cast bullets the accuracy is scary.

Hobie:

You think that stuff is hard to find, try shooting a Remington 141 in .32 Remington. Now that's something that's hard to find.

I agree with Charles on cast loads in the .32 .
