It was all going great, right up until...

Saw this hanging on my saguaro cactus out front. It did not go well for that grasshopper. POW!! Right between the eyes.

Then, to add insult to injury (or death in this case), his chitinous, exoskeletal cousins dined on his remains and used his carcass as a home!

I'd say "poor bugger" but I'm not all that fond of grasshoppers in the first place. :?

And just to show you what an outstanding job this guy did hammering his head dead center into a razor sharp spike as long as his body, check this out:

Reminds me of one of my career choices.

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

Reminds me of how I almost did that with a metal 'pipe' sticking out of the back of a truck that had stopped in front of me. The problem was the pipe was actually a light-pole, and the taper made it appear like it was protruding alot less towards me than it really was. Fortunately my paranoia kicked in, and I stopped plenty early.

I worked one where the young lady didn't have paranoia on her side. I can still see it in my minds eye (thanks for that reminder). Needless to say, it was closed casket.

I wonder if the grasshopper did that to him self or if a bird did. I can't remember the name of the bird but there was a bird back in NM that would stick bugs on spines to eat later. That was one of the birds dad OK'd for shooting with the pellet gun.

Good pictures by the way
