I told him he should give up on the rimfire and pursue finding a conversion kit to change over to .32 centerfire. Can anyone here give me the specifics on what .32 cal ammo to use/buy? Also, conversion kit recommendations? Thanks.

Need Help. 1892 Marlin .32 rimfire
A friend of mine just bought an 1892 Marlin in .32 rimfire at an estate sale. He knows very little about firearms. No one can locate any ammo for this rifle. I found some really old stuff for about $80.00 a box and several single rounds on GunBroker for about $10.00 a piece!

No kit, AFAIK, the rifle simply needs a FP change to a CF pin.
IIRC, Winchester still makes a couple of runs each year of CF .32 Short Colt ammo. ($30 bx/50)

You can get 32 Short Colt and a lot of other obsolete calibers, from this company. They will reload your spent brass also since this uses a heeled bullet.

CF pin can be bought from Wisners. http://wisnersinc.com/rifles/marlin/rflever.htm

I know a whole lot about very little and nothing about a whole lot.

Great thread over there Slim, thanks for mentioning it.

He may be able to help you find a centerfire firing pin.

Re: Need Help. 1892 Marlin .32 rimfire
I ordered a 1892 centerfire pin from here http://www.wisnersinc.com/rifles/marlin/rflever.htm It still required a bit of hand fitting, but it wasn't a huge job. With the centerfire pin you can shoot both 32 short and long Colts. I've fired some of the newer Winchester short Colts as well as some older long Colts in mine.
