Hard to believe it's almost 50 years old
Coming up on fifty! First chassis was built in March of 1963 and the car raced in 1964. Most fame came later, but the genesis of the car was in 63 and that's fitty next year.
Still my all time favorite dream car.

Always been a Ford fan from the very first Mustang I remember a brand new '65 my uncle brought by one day.
As a kid in the '60s my favorite Mattel "Hot Wheels" racer was the Ford GT.
Also loved anything Shelby but Especially the Shelby AC Cobra.
I was able to pick up a '65 Fastback identical to the one pictured below. Eventually gave it up for a Datsun B210 for economy.

My cousin still drives datsuns, he has seven of them stashed away in his barn, they run forever, and if you keep them out of the salt they dont rott too fast, amazing that those datsun cars built in the late 70's early 80's got 42 mpg, wish I could talk him out of 1 of the station wagons.

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.
History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

The cars of that era are cool and the drivers were something. They had to drive em with a chassis that wouldn't hold a candle to todays. The tires were good for the time but by todays standards not so good. Carbs instead of EFI. Electronic ingnitions were just coming around. None of these modern era traction control devices either. We've come a long ways. That is and always will be something special.

...and the stock cars were actually stock pretty much right off the showroom floor with very little prep made to make race ready.
