OT - Winchester Model 62
What year was a Model 62 winchester made with the serial # 182,xxx.I was told its a 1946 but its a model 62 not a 62 A.It shoots 22 LR,L,Shorts. Its a slick little gun.I am thinking of selling it .I cant figure if it was put together with prewar parts at winchester or what?I thought this would be the best place to ask.

My Winchester Model 62 is serial number 195xxx. Somebody out there has the last Winchester marked "Model 62." I wonder what that serial number is.

Here is a brief history of the Model 62 with photos:

Model 62 Winchester Pump 22 made in 1946
Its a model 62 22 hammer gun.Its one of the smoothest 22 pumps I have ever seen.I had one of the hammerless winchesters that someone welded a scope mount on.This model 62 hasd a riding trigger also.I wonder why winchester changed over to a hammerless gun just because of the times.A friend who I bought it from swears they had them at Six Flags as a shooting game.I rember guns but not 22s just the bb guns.He said they only had them a few years.I think these Winchester pumps were the cream of the crop for plinking.I am so use to my ruger 1022 that I always forget to pump a pump gun.I did the same dove hunting with a 870 remington.I just cant shoot with open sites so good any more have to have a scope on almost everything I shoot. This would make an awesome kids rifle.I saw that some of the 62s would only shoot 22 lr but I thought all 62s would shoot all 22s lr ,l,shorts this one does. Its an awesome little gun did they ever make it in a carbine or just the long barrelerd one.
Mine looks just like that one in the top picture with the long forend.I looked at that sight and they say it is a model 62 but dont list long 17 grove forend like yours. Its stamped model 62 not 62 a.Its in very good condition. Its kinda confusing about the post war guns because they had a bunch of prewar barrels and parts left.
