New to me 1895 Winchester in unique config

Post by moodyholler »

It is a 20" rifle with a saddle ring. Crescent butt, original rapid taper barrel, with integral front sight, caliber is 303 british. Kind of a neat little rifle. Anyone ever seen this config on an 1895? Thanks, moodyholler

Sounds like someone replaced the original stock. Does it have the carbine fore end and hand guard? Sounds interesting.

I've been chasing a '95 in .303 for years! Never been in the right place at the right time.

Is the rear sight a ladder or buckhorn?

Just read somewhere about the 95's being very popular in Canada and large numbers of them going up there. And most of them were in 303 British. Maybe the ones headed North had a different config?
