Maybe not so much the UK forumites.

To sum it up, it's on a 3000 pound (as in UK currency, not mass) novelty gun that fires a 2.34 mm projectile at 399 feet per second.

From the article: "it could still prove fatal and in the eyes of the law was as dangerous as a machine gun"

Well that's one handgun I don't mind being banned from owning. £3,000 for something with a tenth of the power of an airgun! :?

But it does look well made, just don't know why anyone would want one!

Well that's certainly the answer to a question nobody ever asked.

Special Agent William McMahon said the gun was so small it could pass for a key fob, and warned it made the perfect stealth weapon for serious criminals.

I can just imagine the conversation between criminals:

"Ok, our heist is all planned, all we need now are the guns."

"I can take care of that, I just need a few grand and 24 hours and I can get a gun that might act as a minor skin irritant."

"Sounds good, lets meet back here tomorrow."

Yep. I've got it a BIT better, at least I've got a sixgun and a permit to carry it (renewable every three years - or not, as their whim may be) But idiocy knows no bounds. Recently they've ruled that all permits are suspended every weekend - from Friday at 6:00 p.m. to Monday morning at 6:00 a.m. - as if criminals, thugs and terrorists kept bankers hours or something. Since I'm not a national, there's not much I can do other than gripe, complain, mumble, mutter and grouse - to myself. If I were a citizen here (and had the same mentality I do now) then I'd see if there was some way to sue the powers that be for reckless endangerment or some such. It may not go anywhere, but who knows? Anyway, my patience with idiots is regularly tested. Like I said, at least they let me "own" and carry - according to their whim.

You should have seen the song and dance I got when I brought in a pellet rifle and muzzle loader (both exempt from restrictions here) last month. :-D It took some fast talk and a fax from the shooting club, but now my stable's a bit fuller...

To paraphrase Einstein, "there are two things that are boundless: the universe, and man's capacity for stupidity!".
