Howdy - It was just a month or so back that I posted a link to the RealGuns review of what was then a current production Marlin 1895 Guide Gun. Some of you may remember that, while the rifle functioned and demonstrated good accuracy, the fit and finish work was just awful.
Well, Joe over at RealGuns has just written up a new review on another Marlin 1895 Guide Gun which is 8,000 rifles further along in Remington/Marlin's production run. In other words, a rifle of even more recent manufacture. I don't want to get anyone too excited
over one review, but darn if it doesn't seem like Marlin (under Remington's roof now) is getting its act together. Here's the link:

Yes, I saw that yesterday too. The "old Marlin" had its share of QC issues too. I had to send a new 1894FG back for cycling issues when it was new several (7 or 8 ) years ago. Not ideal, but it works fine now.
I have 3 1894s and a 1895G all bought from old company manufacture. I hope Remington has found the secret to getting it right the first time. I'd like to see these rifles around for a good long time.

I handled one a few weeks ago and the fit and finish on it was good. A buddy and I tried real hard to pic it apart and couldn't find any flaws. Maybe there's hope.
