Hmmm... Think if I were going to pony up the bucks for one of Turnbull's beauties it'd have to have a lever on it. And look a lot more like an '86.

but.... verrrry interesting!

I just read this thread and the thread HArry linked to ---- love Steve's rifle , - but.......... i like the Turnbull gun too , would rather see it with a full length barrel though without the M4 cuts.

The Turnbull gun is for the type of millionaire playboy who already has a closet full of sweet 1886's, crescent butt 94's , real HK 94's, a smattering of custom SAA's and 1911's, and everything in between ------ basically, for the man who has everything else, here's one more!

(I like Steve's gun much better from a functional standpoint -- its likely pretty expensive too, but you can do it $200 at a time if your short stacked --- plus it gives me an idea of how to deck out a Noveske upper/lower set i've had sitting around doing nothing :D )

As I recall, the first prototype semi auto rifles were modified lever actions.

I like the looks; new along with the old. Isn't this the transition most military weapons go through from full military to civilian? Like an '03 Springfield, '98 Mauser...

An AR10 with a 16" barrell is the cat's butt. But, it's gonna be evil black plastic

Didn't Bill Ruger mess with the Savage 99 and eventually make a prototype semiauto out of it...??? I think I read that in one of the many books about the history of Ruger firearms...

Case coloring doesn't make an AR "Western" in style or anything else.
Many non-"Western" guns were case hardened.
Just makes it...grossly different.
