We seem to be unanimous in our dislike of turnips. Now turnip greens are a different matter - yum. Only vegetable that tastes worse that turnips are parsnips - yech!

nice turnip, cut it up into little cubes boil it for about 25 minutes, mash it up, add some butter and a little halfnhalf. I love mashed turnips almost as much as mashed potatoes.
Rutabagas are the tops. I eat at least 2 or 3 servings per month. I love turnips!!!!!!!!!! Here in Mississippi, I can get the roots for .59 a pound, and the lousy greens go for 2.28 per pound!!! Go figure!!! Art

Kinda' like lima and butter beans (YUK!!).
It all depends on how things are fixed. We learned to like lima beans in Brazil, where our sons were born.
Take the dry (ripe) lima beans and soak them overnight. Boil them until they start to soften. Toss out the water. Rinse them well. Add fresh water and finish cooking them. Some folks would rinse and cook a couple times. Anyway, once soft you add a bit of salt and pepper and some salt pork or other seasoning. Serve over rice. It's not something for everyday consumption, but they ain't half bad. Now, the way they usually get served up in the US -
