RIP Andy Griffith

Post by meanc »

Another great one has left us.
...and I don't think he even knows it...Walks around with a half-assed grin...If he feels fear, he don't show it. Just rides into hell and back again.

RIP is right. Man, I love that show and always have. I've crossed paths with him several times and I had a chance to sit next to him on the airplane once. He struck me as about as nice a fellow as you'd ever meet.

His career was launched by No Time for Sergeants. Funny movie if you ever get the chance, and you'll see Gomer Pyle was a re-do of Griffith's character.

From all i have ever heard he was a very fine gentleman and obvioiusly very intelligent, and hilarious without using gutter humor. Aunt Bea was also a wonderful person in real life. She really did live in Siler City, about 30 miles west of Chapel Hill, NC. When i was in medical school there, several times we had young children with serious illnesses from Siler City, from poor families, for whom Aunt Bea was personally picking up the entire cost of their care and helping their families with transportation etc. She was well known to the pediatrics dept and truly did have a heart of gold.

I've been watching all the old stuff on NetFlex....Never a finer man came out of Hollywood. He could pick some pretty good guitar and sing, too.

I agree Hobie, he was an Obamacare backer.

At one time, on the Martin website they had the story of Andy and his Martin guitar.

I've got one of his CDs that has that and a couple of other routines on it. All are pretty funny but "Football" is the best.

So it is said that he died this morning and by lunch time he was already in the ground. That posed the question that he possibly was not embalmed (sp?). In N.C. it is not law that you have to be.

It was said that he requested to be buried right away and that there was a small family gathering and that was it.

Fine man. Believe he has the right idea about funerals and burials. Seems like more people now are chosing to do the same.

Here in Fla. there doesn't need to be an embalming unless there is to be a viewing.

My dad bought me What It Was Was Football on 45 RPM back in the 50's. I still have it but nothing to play it on right now.

I have truly enjoyed the body of Mr. Griffith's work that was available to me over the course of my lifetime.

He was a fine entertainer, and seemed to convey the sense that he was probably the nice guy he usually portrayed.

I can forgive him for the Obamacare thing.

He was an old dude, and evil men take advantage of the trusting nature of elder citizens every day of the week.

Obama just did to Mr. Griffith what Bush did to General Powell, he suckered him into tarnishing his own sterling reputation in order to put a trusted public face on a despicable political lie.

So long, Andy. Our world is better because you were here.

Too young to of seen anything but re-runs, but I still grew up watching him on t.v.
He will be missed.

Do you remember the commercial he and Opie made in '08? That could have made the difference in getting this incompetent fascist puppet elected. Would you forgive him that too?

Nope. Don't remember ever seeing one of those.

Without seeing one it wouldn't be fair to say whether I thought it made a difference in anything.

As to how the Great Baraq got elected, 98% of the voters made that choice, those being voters that actually voted for him, and those that chose to waste their votes on John McCain.

I doubt Andy Griffith added anything significant to the tally.

He need not be forgiven for his support of Affordable Health Care.

His position in that regard was correct.
