Happy Birthday Canada and best wishes to the USA on July 4
Just a quick note to honour Canada Day and remember our American friends as July 4 approaches.
We all have concerns and complaints about our societies and the politicians but when push comes to shove we are the luckiest folks on this planet still!
I spent the day bragging about Canada to my kids.

We did forgive you guys for burning down our Parliament Buildings. However we moved them to Ottawa just to be sensible! The War of 1812 taught us that this really isn't worth it, let's be friends!

hey, while we were invading Canada, we lost our capital.
Re: Happy Birthday Canada and best wishes to the USA on July 4
The so-called War of 1812 was an interesting time in North American history with the U.S. invading Canada, the British burning the U.S. capitol, the Creek War going on in Mississippi Territory (later Alabama), Andrew Jackson attacking the Spanish in Pensacola, and then Jackson and others defending New Orleans against the British (the only battle really won by the Americans) after the signing of the Treaty of Ghent signifying the end of the war! As a side note, the French Province of Louisiana was established in 1699, with its capital at Old Biloxi (modern Ocean Springs), by the brothers d'Iberville and Bienville, who were French Canadians! Happy birthday to both Canada and the United States of America!

We won the battle of Lake Erie too. ("We have met the enemy and they are ours")
