Marlin 336 Octagon Mini Range Report

Post by CBinNH »

I posted last week about picking up this 336 Octagon model. Today was my first chance to try it. Distance was about 50 yards (paces). Used my range bag to shoot off of. The first shot went high. The nice crisp, not too heavy trigger kind of surprised me. Next 5 went where I like them. The gun came with a Tasco 4X scope in a carry handle (see-thru mount). Looks like the previous owner sighted it the way I would. I'm almost tempted to throw the Tasco back on it to see what it will do at 75-100 yards. Much over 50 yards & my eyes fail me with irons. Didn't shoot any more since I paid $18.99 for the 170 Power Point Winchesters at my local shop. May have to set up to reload 30-30's unless they are alot cheaper at Wally World.

Very nice !

Back about 6 or so years ago when I was in the midst of my Marlin buying frenzy I wanted one of these to go with the Zane Grey 336 I had . Never did get a 336 octagon or an 1894 octagon !

Such is life !

Hope you enjoy it for many years to come !
