I stumbled across a Marlin model I hadn't seen before. It's a 336 Octagon, one of 2,414 made in 1973. 22" octagon barrel,
straight stock, & of course, no safety. It reminds me of the newer Cowboy model that brings more than I care to pay. Oh,
30-30. Had to have it. Hope to shoot it in the next few days.

I almost bought one from the sporting goods store on Alvarado Street in Monterey, CA in 1973. Almost because getting it home proved to be problematic at that instant. That store had NEAT guns.

Why was that Hobie. I flew from SanFran to Orange County in Dec of '73 with a Mdl 94 Winchester, a Mdl 64A, and 2 Colt 1911s along with a Remington Rand 1911. Just had to check them into the luggage. Oh yea... I was in uniform tho'! Gettin' 'em thru Customs off the MAC flight from the Philipines was sort of a headache!

No I ain't ready, but let's do it anyway!
I don't recall ever seeing one of those come up for sale on usedguns over here, but I bet if it did it would be on a day when I don't have any money.
