new computer virus....

I just got nailed with a new computer virus....
Turned the computer on, and before it was even logged on to my settings
all sorts of audio commercials started playing...for all sorts of products..
from deoderant to car stuff...this stinks....

You probably got it through your email. You placed your new job's email here and there are bots and sniffers out there that find such information and attack it.

AVG is a decent anti-virus that is free, but if you are using a computer for business, buy Norton or some other decent anti-virus program.

I luckily avoid eveil e-mails, because I changed my method of accessing email several years ago, now going directly to my ISP's mail server online, ILO opening up an Outlook Express auto-downloader.

It was worth losing my cached address book.

I do that too (going to the ISP's server), but just to 'screen' and delete stupid emails. Then I use the Outlook Express to quickly load the few I trust and want to read. That way I do get to keep my address book...!

Pegasus will let you see a list of e-mails before downloading to your computer, you can delete them before they get to you.

I like AVG, but I had better luck with avast. and it's free too.
