My New Winchester 1886EL

Post by joachim slim »

Through the kind efforts of individuals on this forum i have received a very nice rifle. It is an 1886EL 45-70 and is as nice as the seller said. I am humbled by the gesture of the forum member that made this possible. Thank You really isnt enough and i hope he knows this means alot to me.

Congrats on a great rifle. I love the looks of those loooong barreled 86s but I would much rather carry my E.L. If I ever hunt with any of my 86s, it will be the SRC or the E.L. Happy for you. 1886.

J Slim - we would love to see some pics of your new rifle when you get the chance.

1886 - "IF you hunt with your 1886, it will be your EL?" Is that because the long barrels do not shoot straight on game?

No sir they shoot great. Just darn heavy. I may have been engaging in a little hyperbole. Best Wishes. 1886.

Im glad for you that you could get this deal together. Those heavy barelled beauties just make a man feel like he owns something special, a piece of history.

It'a always nice to add an '86 to the family. I'm with 1886 on hunting witha an SRC or EL - my Browning rifle is a BIG rifle to be hauling around in the woods without a horse.

I'm still holding out for an EL takedown, which Davidson's may or may not ever make.

Bruce - I am keeping my Browning, thanks in no small part to your advice.

The new Winchester 1886 EL is one of the finest modern 1886's made. I owned one and only parted with it very reluctantly to get the funds to purchase an old Winchester that was over 100 years old.

SubDoc kindly allowed me to adopt his EL last fall..........I assure you that fine rifle will not leave it's family ever again! Even with it's so-so trigger, I have a magical ability to hit with that weapon that I can't understand......I'm pretty sure it will go hunting this fall........

Does the "EL" stand for Extra Light"?

The " L " is light, and I think the E is extra, but would not bet the farm on it.......
