I got one of the Ruger 10/22 Takedowns. Comes apart with a lever. I shot some rocks at 50 and 75 yards. Went bang, poof. Nice. It looks just like the pics on google and comes apart slick as snot. The backpack is plenty big to carry ammo and mags and a pistol yet small, like 22" long or so. $345 OTD. Cool, cool, cool. My only semi-auto rifle.

I've got my Grandpa's Browning 22 Auto that takes down sort of like that. My most accurate .22

That sounds like a fun, but quiet, time. . . - nice not to have to wear hearing protectors. I'm hoping they come out with a takedown model 10/22 that has a threaded muzzle; it would help those with suppressors keep the gun compact when in takedown mode.

Per the instructions, I loosened the adjustment knob, installed the fore end, snugged the knob, removed the fore end, moved the knob three clicks, reinstalled the fore end, let the bolt fly a couple of times and loaded up some Federal bulk. In 25 rounds I was able to bust a couple of baseball sized flat stones I stood up at 75 off hand. I look forward to providing a real range report from a rest and paper targets.

I kinda wish back in the day when the 94/44 first hit the market I had gotten one of them . Looked kinda neat back then with the walnut stock and case colored lever . Or atleast the one I saw in the Ruger catalog that year was that way .

The 96/44's ARE nice - slick, short lever throw, compact overall length, flush 4-shot magazine, one-piece quick-detachable stock, and easy to either put a peep sight on, or to scope. I wouldn't mine one in stainless/synthetic, as far as practicality, since the design by nature is never going to be 'traditional' anyway. Plus, I'd like one in .357 Mag with a 6-shot magazine, and/or in .45 Colt, or maybe .480 Ruger...!

The picture with my daughter was last weekend, I just moved it up to my property in Utah. I'll be calling it home, for a while, while I build a work shop & home. It is going to take awhile, but I finally have a plan to get out of Vegas
