New 2nd Lt

Post by airedaleman »

Just came back from West Point after attending my grandson's graduation. Lt Samuel J. Craig USA. Infantry (added three to get infantry). Next stop Ft Benning, then to Ft Bliss (duty post), and Ranger training in Florida set for March. He's a good one. Please wish him well...

Congrats! Visit him at Benning and join him for a slice of pie at Olson Hall if it still exists. Used to be the best chow hall in the U.S. Army.

Outstanding!! Please pass on my congratulations! You are right to be proud of him - just having our son accepted to an academy is making us proud :) And Rangers too - good for him!

Ears and eyes open, mouth shut, tell him to find a good NCO and listen for a while.

And get him a good knife. Pocketknife and multitool, I'd recommend a Zero Tolerance for the folder and a Victorinox for the multitool.

Will do!

Two uncles, my youngest son Ted (combat engineer, Desert Storm) and son-in-law (82nd Airborne) button-holed him Saturday evening at family gathering with some advice. We all had one heck of a good time...

THANKS TO ALL FOR YOUR THOUGHTS!

Congratulations to him. Now tell him that that ring should never be knocked against anything, or even worn in daily duty if he wants the troops to take him seriously. Getting tabbed out will be all he needs to have to show that he can lead. A good NCO, preferrably one who has worn the Electric Butterknife, can really help him to become all he can be.
