like to play forensic analyst and I have to think he
was using a 22 rimfire.. Even still, it is hard to believe
she could survive when we hear the old assassins used the 22 pistol as favorite weapon.

You guys have missed the point about what a brilliant shooter this guy is. He maims the female for life without killing her? That's some sick shooting right there. And they'll never be able to prosecute him for attempted murder.

I know a guy in Alaska who was shot repeatedly by 3 cops, one with a 12ga and two with revolvers, at least one of which was a .357 mag, at nearly point blank range, and he survived and won the lawsuit after a couple of years of recuperation. He was unarmed, and attacked and left for dead on the Hoonah boat dock. In broad daylight.

I knew another guy who took a whole bunch of Japanese machinegun rounds in the Aleutians battle, I forget how many bullets in the boiler room, and he survived and after a several year recuperation he went trolling for salmon in SE Alaska.

this is a sad affair. since the economy has tanked we've seen a dramatic rise in domestic violence and we've been averaging 2 suicides per week in the county where i live and serve (we had 11 suicides in two weeks back in january)...this is taking an emotional toll with the LEO's i serve and hang with...this shooting that you described is indicative of the lack of hope that many feel and experience...too bad... :(

Sorry, this is entirely tongue-in-cheek hyperbole. The premise being that if he fired a gun and hit someone 8 times without killing her, he must not have been trying to. This is based on my experience killing deer, maybe a couple hundred in all. 8 shots is just ruining meat. Mostly it takes one bullet to harvest one deer. Mostly head shots for a sure instant no-kick kill. I don't think humans are any more bullet resistant than deer.

Ergo, my tongue-in-cheek defense that it wasn't attempted murder cause he didn't kill her.

When I was a teenager, I was a summer camp counselor. There was a 10 year old there in foster care whose father had shot him 5 times with a hunting rifle. He had puck marks all over his body. I don't know how he ever survived.

Seen a guy get hit in the back with a .40 and not even know he was hit. And another (bank robber) who took 2 .40 JHPs center mass at muzzle contact distance, went down, then got back up (adrenalin) and nearly fought off 3 large, 6'2" or so cops. He was about 5'6, 150lbs.

Also know a personal friend who dropped a guy with a single 9mm. Center mass, hit him in either the heart or lungs, but the guy expired before he could even get a radio call off. Dude came at him with a knife.

Did the guy just wake up one morning and decide "I think I'll see how many bullets 'Sweety Pie' can soak up."

Was it an accident? Was she picking flowers behind the berm and decide to peek throught the little holes appearing in that piece of paper?

I never assign victim-hood. I usually consider that women, like men, are at the root of their own misfortune.

I'm hesitant to call the guy anything more or less than un-safe or a poor student of anatomy without more information.
