Prayers up in advance of the tornadoes

Post by Bill in Oregon »

Praying for all the good folks in Kansas and Oklahoma this Saturday and Sunday. The National Weather Service is warning of severe tornado outbreaks in the Plains. Those who live in the area, please take all precautions and keep yourselves and your loved ones safe!

Pitchy, my friend, thanks for joining in on this. I don't think we can ask God to stop the Great Plains weather patterns he created for his own reasons, but we can sure ask him for a twister to skip clean over a packed church or school!

Having lived 30+ years in the mid-west, I feel badly for those that deal with tornados.....I've been far too close too many times. The best you can do is have a good place to go..and quickly. :(

Jerry B, while i admire your enthusiasm, i have to confess that i don't believe God has much to do with this stuff ---unless you take the grand scheme POV that he does "everything". (i don't and i am a Christian )
Truly, its just the way life is in the plains states, although lately , tornadoes don't seem to confine themselves to TX, OK, and KS , with the chaos that hit the deep south and even New Jersey last year

Was stuck in a locker room at a Norman OK YMCA Friday for about 45 minutes.
It came up fast --- usually there's a little more advance warning.

So far today, the truly nasty stuff has avoided the heavier populated areas , but has been wreaking havoc out in western OKlahoma - at last count, 5 confirmed fatalities (2 children) so far in a town called Woodward OK -- tornado hit about midnight while a lot of people were sleeping.
So no, - i can't truly believe that God caused such an event - its just 2 wind fronts meeting and causing a low pressure circulation (but with catastrophic results )
That said, my prayers are definitely up for those going through this and it is hard not to shed a tear for the poor kids and adults whose lives were violently taken in the middle of the night.

Well we survived three seperate waves of tornadic storms last night. About 100 reports of tornados in central Kansas overnight. Salina, and Wichita areas were hit with damage.

I ask for prayers for the people of IA, Woodward, OK and Wichita and Salina, KS areas that were affected by the storms. I also give thanks to God that the injury, fatality and property damage was as low as it is because it could have been much worse. Both the Boeing and Spirit plants and a mobile home park were hit in Wichita. Also the torr com index was acurate as there were at least 2 tornados of EF3 within 20 miles of my house.

THanks for all your prayers for those of us in the central plains.

Beaker: Thanks be to God that you are safe. Prayers for those whose lives were turned upside down in a matter of horrifying seconds, and for the EMTs, trauma teams and power crews helping to put lives and homes back together.
