(optical) My Latest Ebay Purchase…

Post by cshold »

Any idea what year this scope was made?
(new & never used)
I’m thinking 1971.

Bushnell Banner 2.5x 20mm
Rifle/Shotgun Scope
71-2520

BUSHNELL
DIVISION OF BAUSCH & LOMB (on the box)

O and do you think the registration card is still good & worth sending in :?:

There's a bar code on that box so I'm not thinking 1971 and the scope itself looks like one I've got from the early 80's, but the lens caps look even newer than that.

Best,
Oly

looking through it in hand I'd say the eye relief is about the
same as my other 2 rifle scope's that are 3X.

I think you'r right Oly,
I was thinking that 71-2520 may of been a year code,
but now I'm not so sure about that after reading this.

Call Bushnell and ask them !

I called on the old 1.5-6x lighted dot Banner I have . And once I gave the guy the seriel number it took him about 3 minutes to tell me the year it was made .

The lens caps look like what I got with a Bushnell Scopechief IV back in 1973 . The top of the box has a picture of a Banner with the lighted dot like I have that was made in 1978 (well the light switch is the same). They made the lighted dot on the Scopechief V back in the early 70's as well .

I'd put this thing from about 76-84 .

Thanks 6pt,
I may just do that for the curiosity factor.
Still thinking about sending in that registration card for
the grin factor. :D

The scope is now mounted on my old H&R Topper model 158 30-30 barrel.
This project is done other than a quick bore site then a trip to the range to shoot it
in with the new owner of this 20ga. / 30-30 combo. I sure hope my Daughter-in-law
likes it and gets a few years of enjoyment out of it.

That scope is a good match for that rifle. She should like that rig, I know that I would!

I have one that looks just like it. Does your read "Korea" on the bottom of the windage adjustment housing? I have mine on a Marlin 44 mag and it seems like a good scope. I also have a Jap Weaver K2.5 on my son's H&R Topper 30-30. The rig looks just like yours and works like a charm.

TNBigBore,

Yes it does...
It is indeed one crystal clear little scope and
seems to be very well constructed.

Question for you, do you have a hammer extension on that H&R?
If so what brand and how do you have it setup.
I’ve encountered a couple of issues with the one I’m using.
I’m at the point of switching to higher scope mounts and skipping the extension.

NICE SNAG, I love ebay!

I picked up a scope off of EBAY once. UNFORTUNATELY, it was trash and would not hold its zero. I decided to give it a shot and call the customer service section and see if I could have it repaired. The CS rep asked for the serial # and I quickly learned it had never been registered. He assisted me in registering the product and told me to mail it to them with a $10 money order. It took about a month, but I eventually received a brand new scope.

I just have the Uncle Mike's hammer extension on mine. It requires a higher scope mount than I like, but works fine. I have heard you can replace the hammer with an H&R Shikari model hammer that allows for a lower scope mount, but have not tried very hard to find one.

That's the same one I have.
The scope is sitting high enough to not interfere with
the hammer or extension. My problem is with the extension
bumping up on the hammer and comming in contact with the
action release lever. This results after about 3 dry fires with
an empty 30-30 shell. And yes I dimpled the hammer where
the set screw rests on the hammer & locktight was used.

I'm almost ready to call on 'J-B Weld' for this problem
