Old West Handcuffs

Post by Pitchy »

Anyone collect them, RangeRider maybe?
I bought a more modern pair of Smith and Wessons on ebay today but would like to find some older style old west ones.

Interesting collectable. I saw some on Pawnstars, some of those earlier cuffs look like torture devices! Looked like they could double as a tractor hitch!

Those dastardly road hunters are in for it now!!

That's not "breaking the law" except in the most Statist sense - i.e. letting the Government get involved where they shouldn't be to define a "law" that is already a preexisting moral construct.

What they did was initiate force against another and violated their inalienable Rights (Life, Liberty, Property). In a Just world, that sort of activity gets the perp shot, not "arrested". I don't see why I have to be held at gunpoint to provide the "justice" that I am morally obliged to provide myself for myself...

For the "Old Style" handcuffs, I believe you could check with Dixie Gun Works, I seem to remember they had some in one of their catalogs. Also another source may be Atlanta Cutlery they offer up some unusual things sometimes. They and some others bought up a whole bunch of British and Nepalese antique guns and accouterments. Just saying they may something like you are looking for. Good Luck.

I returned your message, sorry for the delay. Be careful because a good old pair will cost quite a bit and so many are reproduced. RR7

Thanks, yep that`s why i`m making some, can`t afford originals other than modern type.
Surprised you don`t have a collection of them to go with your TX. ranger collectibles.
I`ll have to make a display board. 8) :)

That story about a peta handcuffed naked to a tree reminded me of this story a old timer here told me. His uncle was the sheriff here back probley in the 1930s or so. He was investigateing some crime near the nevada-utah border west of us. Some criminal pair sort of like bonnie and clyde type got the drop on him and was debateing on killing him but decided to handcuff him around a cedar tree with his handcuffs. It was some distance off the main road and he should have died. Instead he was able to use a sharp rock and cut and chip off the branchs of the tree and finaly climb and drop out of the tree. I think he said it took a couple days! Later they did run down the couple on the arizonna strip. He said the story was featured in all the detective magazines of the day. The sheriffs name was earl fife. (Not barney!)
