Browning Abolt micro hunter?
I stopped into a candy store I have never been in before and saw a Browning Abolt micro hunter in 308. The kicker is it is a left hander, just like me. It is short. light (6.6lbs) satin finish walnut rifle. The thing is the length of pull is only 13 5/16" fells short, but a lot of levers are short length of pull too and I feel comfortable with a lever of a shorter pull. I have owned a left hand Abolt before (in 270) and it was a great shooter. Anybody played with these micro hunters? The asking price brand new with bases was $600. I really had to work hard to keep the wallet in my pocket but the shorter length of pull had me wondering. Open to comments I'll be back in the area Tuesday and I can already feel my steering wheel pulling into their yard.

I like the shorter length of pull. I'm not a small guy, and can handle a full size rifle just fine, but I'm quickly falling in love with my wife's new rifle. It's a youth model in 7mm-08. The length of pull is a couple of inches shorter than my full size .243, which reduces the overall length and makes it seem much handier. I'd jump on that Browning if I were you and had the funds. I've never handled the A Bolt, but I've shot and handled both the full size and compact X Bolt, and if quality is anywhere near comparable for the A Bolt I wouldn't hesitate.

Buy it.
If the LOP is too short, bit a slip-on decelerator pad on it for an extra 2" LOP... and a softer shooter.

Not being a towering individual myself at 5'6", I prefer the shorter LOP, especially if I plan on taking the rifle out in winter. The extra clothes/coat can make the average fitting rifle just too long. I often will cut down a rifle to fit, but that can be such a pain sometimes. I'm relieved to find makers introducing youth versions although 13 5/16" isn't that much shorter than normal. A rifle that's too short is easier to shoot than one that's too long.

I like the short LOP to compensate for heavy clothing in the winter time. With all those layers of clothes it's less likely to get hung up while trying to take a quick shot.
My favorite hunting rifles are pretty short on both ends. Even though I'm just short of 6'3.
Just a thought. I don't think I could have left without it (if it was right handed of course).
