1873 Rifle slings
Now that I have a Uberti 1873 Short Rifle, I would like to "sling it" occasionally for hunting. What do those of you, among the 1873 rifle "clan", use for a sling? I would prefer methods that would preclude drilling holes my stock, but would appreciate any suggestions that would work and are within your "acceptable good taste" of the "cowboy" genre

Re: 1873 Rifle slings
I'm thinking a leather boot on the stock and a magazine swivel with the sling of your choice between them!

jager3,
A friend gave me this sling several years ago. I don't know where he got it and there is nothing on it to indicate who made it. It works pretty slick.

Re: 1873 Rifle slings
I got one like w30wcf has but all leather from Turnbull about a year ago for my 1886. Worked well last hunting season. He calls it the Quick Sling - http://www.turnbullmfg.com/catalog.asp? ... prevnext=1
Btw, very nice rifle there w30wcf.

Re: 1873 Rifle slings
Thanks for the advice and great examples of the type of slings that will fit right in with the "classic" good looks of the 1873.
