Incredible four minute footage of a desperate
Spitfire vs. ME-109 dual. You feel like you are
there! Amazing computer work blended in with real
photography.
Also an interesting factual story that most of us
did not know. History is rarely 'over'.
Now sit back and strap on your parachute harness
... it is the Summer of 1940 over the skies of
England. Listen to the perfect 'purr' of the Rolls
Royce Merlin ...
Watch this full screen. It's very well done. Hope it works for all y'all.
[BTW, the Brit is the guy with the mustache.]

Mike, I read something only the other day about downed RAF pilots being held in Ireland till the end of the War. Northern Ireland of course remained British.
Nice to see that guy using his Webley in single action.
Whatever you do always give 100%........... unless you are donating blood.

Yes, and it actually recoiled. The ME 109 pilot popped a few rounds from his probably 9mm Luger, or maybe P-38, at him, too.

In those days, there was very little that the Irish appreciated or loved about the British. I've heard it said that Germany repeatedly offer the Irish a deal if they fell in with the Axis (I do not know this to be true...sorry if it is not)

There was a incident where a russian shot down a german me-109. The heine crash landed, crawled out and ran into some cover. The circleing russian pilot could see he was getting away from russian ground troops. The russian landed and ran down the kraut and choked him to death!

They did try to make a deal with them. the Germans also occasionally dropped a bomb on ireland to remind them to be neutral, so i was told by folks over there old enough to know. they would claim it was a mistake, etc. one of my professors did air raid warden duty while in medical school during the war, and described this to me. i did part of my medical training [ obstetrics part ] in Dublin Ireland at Rotunda hospital.
